Commit to compromise, accommodation
Graphic Online BY: Daily Graphic 705 Fourteen civil society organisations (CSOs) in Election Programming have called on political leaders to commit to the spirit of compromise and accommodation to preserve the country’s democratic gains. They said the scenes in Parliament that characterised the sacred and solemn process of electing a Speaker and the swearing in of Members of Parliament (MPs) which played out before the international community betrayed the political leaders’ proclamations and expressed commitments to democratic principles, the rule of law and the pursuit of the public interest. Low point At the height of the disorder that ensued, the CSOs recalled, first the police were called in, and then military men were invited to restore order.
