The York County District attorney says no charges will be filed in the 2018 death of an inmate.District Attorney Dave Sunday on Tuesday announced the results of a grand jury investigation into the death of 41-year-old Everett Palmer.Sunday said there is no evidence of any wrongdoing by York County Prison staff.Palmer had binged on methamphetamine 60 to 70 hours before he died, the district attorney said.According to investigators, Palmer’s death followed bizarre behavior. Investigators said he banged his head against his cell door.Sunday said prison staff believed Palmer was experiencing mental health issues.“No one in the York County Prison was aware that Mr. Palmer had consumed drugs, let alone actively experiencing methamphetamine toxicity,” Sunday said.Palmer’s family alleged he had been murdered and filed a federal civil rights lawsuit.The district attorney said he spoke with Palmer’s family on the phone before Tuesday’s news conference. He called the death tragic and heart-breaking.
