(Photo courtesy of DPWH-3) CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of 23 multi-purpose buildings in various schools and villages in the province of Nueva Ecija. Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office chief Elpidio Y. Trinidad said on Tuesday the projects include seven barangay halls, five school gyms, four barangay covered courts, six daycare centers, and one senior citizen building with a total cost of PHP61.6 million. He said the main beneficiaries of the projects are the residents, school children, and senior citizens. "With the completion of these structures, the DPWH has provided local communities with reliable public buildings that can be utilized in the delivery of government services. We were also able to augment the need of our schools for additional facilities that can hold classes or venues for their activities" Trinidad said in a social media post. Meanwhile, a resident of Barangay San Bartolome, San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija, thanked the DPWH for the new daycare center built in their area. Roberto B. Salvaterra said there are about 40 children enrolled in the facility, "thus, the construction of the daycare center is important since it will be able to accommodate a larger number of pupils if the conduct of in-person instruction is allowed".
