The East Peoria City Council appointed Rich Brodrick to be the city’s new chief of police during Tuesday’s meeting.
Brodrick had been serving as the city’s interim police chief since last October, when Chief Steve Roegge resigned to pursue other opportunities. Before being promoted to the interim chief position, Brodrick had served for seven years as the East Peoria Police Department’s deputy chief.
“I couldn’t be more excited for this police department,” said East Peoria Mayor John Kahl. “This is the first chief we’ve promoted from within for 20 years.”
In addition to Brodrick’s appointment, EPPD Interim Deputy Chief David Horn was appointed deputy chief.
