Eureka council to weigh stance against controversial cannabis measure

Measure A – created by Kneeland residents Mark Thurmond and Elizabeth Watson – would enact several new land-use regulations for cannabis cultivators including a ban on new or expanded permits for mixed light, indoor farms and grows over 10,000 square feet. Thurmond and Watson argue it will benefit both county cultivators and local watersheds, while opponents such as the Humboldt County Growers Alliance – a cannabis industry trade group – claim the measure will render local cultivation utterly unfeasible.
