Matanzas’s wrestling team is sending three of its squad to the Class 2A state tournament in Kissimmee after they placed at the Region 1-2A qualifier at Lynn Haven Mosley on Feb. 26 and 27.
Brothers Tyson and Jordan Mills both placed second at the tournament in their weight classes, while Carter Wilder earned a third-place showing. Matanzas took 11th as a team.
Tyson Mills, Matanzas’s 152-pound junior, went up against with Joel Rodriguez of Fletcher in the championship bout and lost a tough 7-4 decision. He was 3-0 headed to the finals, including a second period pin and two decisions.
