Lets check in with kari and see what we are in store for this week. Weve been watching the air quality thats been the big issue as temperatures have ramped up yesterday. As we look at what were expecting today still some drifts of smoke coming in especially for parts of the north bay as well as the bay and the coast. The east bay will have the worst of the air quality as we look at some better air quality for the south bay. Ill continue to monitor that, and well talk about temperatures coming up. Whats happening out on the roads now, mike . Mostly green sensors but a couple incidents marked on the map as we take it full screen. Youll see a couple incidents, one on the peninsula and one in the east bay, both cleared from the roadways. Well track that. If theres anything big to report well let you know. I circled another issue in richmond, also the east bay, a fire. Its been there for a while since about a half an hour now, maybe a little more. Its a roadside fire just about out at 580 and central. Back to you. All right, thank you very much, mike. New overnight a Police Officer in the hospital after a crash in san jose. It happened a little before 1 00 a. M. When police say a driver ran a stop sign on taylor, and im looking this up right now. I believe it is near third. They tboned the patrol car. Both drivers were taken to the hospital. Theyre not saying if the driver was under the influence. The intersection remains closed but its not clear how soon it will taylor near third street. The nat mourn the loss of a champion of gender equality. Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in her Washington Home this weekend. Folks here in the bay area all weekend gathered to gather her and that fight she lived. Now things started off here in the city with mayor breed joining dozens of others in the castro friday to honor the late justice with candles. In the peninsula a moment of silence for reflection for the 120 people who gathered at a vigil at the city courthouse. And in oakland a drum circle formed near lake merritt. It was a chance to put politics aside and the strides she made for marginalized communities. Take a look at what one person at the rally had to say. I dont want it to be about other sides. This is about humanity. This is about justice. This is about all of us having rights and that is what the notorious rbg stood for. Reporter many reflected on what life may have been like had she not fought for equality with some of those at the gatherings noting women could have their own checkbooks and credit cards. Were looking at 880 south around the construction zone. We dont see the slowing we saw last week. Lane restrictions are moving nicely right now. The rest of the bay moves smoothly. What are we expecting from the air quality today . Its mostly going to be in parts of the north bay, in the east bay where we see the drifts of smoke. Along the coastline and parts of the south bay thats where we see some clearing, so concord one of those areas of concern where people do still need to limit time outside. As we look at our temperatures this morning, well dip down into the upper 50s and then see a little bit more sunshine today although it will be hazy at times, it will be a nicer afternoon with our temperatures coming down from where we were yesterday. Were looking at some low 80s in parts of the south bay and downtown san jose and 79 today in milpitas. As we head to the east bay we are still looking at some upper 80s in some of these spots like livermore and concord. 87 today in walnut creek. Oakland today will reach 74 redwood city and along the coastline, mostly 60s. And even a few low 70s in San Francisco. 85 in sonoma. As we go through the forecast a couple of systems that will be passing to the north and that will help bring in more of a westerly wind. Big changes ahead. It will get hot as High Pressure moves in and it looks like it will kind of park itself just to our north over the next few days. A lot more of the green sensors that show that we will have some better air quality but still the north bay and inland east bay is where the smoke will continue to drift, but temperature wise its going to be a great week, really nice with seasonable high temperatures. Some of our warmest spots only reach into the low 80s while San Francisco will stay in the 60s. Once again well be watching that weekend heat up. Mike, how is it looking for the morning commute . We see Speed Sensors are not a problem. We are looking at a camper fire that was reported on telegraph between mlk and 45th and just off the freeway. It doesnt sound like a big issue but the smoke might be visible. The crash on 880 around 29th is on the shoulder and the bay bridge toll plaza has nothing thats a big deal. Thats what we expect. County after really erratic winds pushed a wildfire closer to communities there. The bobcat fire has already burned over 103,000 acres. The blaze actually doubled in size over the last week. Fire Officials Say they only have about 15 of the fire under control so far. Its been very challenging for them to fight since the fire is burning in areas that havent burned in decades. Happening now for you, the gulf coast is preparing for Tropical Storm beta expected to make landfall tonight in texas and then to louisiana. The rain from the storm is already falling in texas. Police say people on the gulf coast need to stay on high alert. When it comes to complications in the 2020 census count, turns out the pandemic is just the tip of the iceberg.
