Manchester United have opened a new “high-performance training base” for their women’s and academy teams. The new multi-million-pound building is located at Carrington, the home of United’s men’s team, and will be the permanent base for the women’s side.Inadequate training facilities were part of the reason previous manager Casey Stoney left the club at the end of the 2020-21 season. United Women switched training grounds from Leigh Sports Village — where they play most of their home games — to the Cliff and then to Carrington during that campaign.“We’re really pleased to be opening the new building here at Carrington; it’s a dedicated space for the women and another sign of our commitment to building a strong position in the women’s game,” said Polly Bancroft, United’s head of women’s football.“We now have a high-performance environment to operate in which will help take the team to the next level following the impressive performances we have seen on the pitch.” “It is also important for the girls academy sides to see the players they admire having access to high-quality facilities to help them reach the highest level.”
