If the 2020 presidential election had been more conventional than conspiratorial, Monday's Electoral College vote would be viewed as a ceremonial coda to a long campaign season.
But for the 14 Democratic electors scheduled to convene at 3 p.m. in the Assembly Chamber in the Statehouse in Trenton, the vote is freighted with a larger symbolic significance.
The Democrats are hoping that the dull formality of casting their prescribed votes for the winners, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, will drive another nail into the coffin of President Donald Trump's delusional crusade to overturn the election.
