Might have heard jaws wrong achievements on B.B.C. T.'s board as she races with Great Britain in the women's 8 yeah the 27 year old made her senior debut at the 2007 European Championships and was received in the same competition of the weekend in Lucerne so we managed to speak to her out of wrist time while she was in Switzerland and we've been speaking about her career and ambitions with Great Britain especially with the Olympics around the corner next year she started off by telling me about what's coming up in the next few weeks yes really obviously it's really important and it's really exciting it's something completely new like we started a group of girls in the Women's Day and only one person in our great posts ever qualified for the Olympics before so I like a completely fresh new group and I do think that's really exciting because everyone's absolutely raring forever on the same page we've got we've got the World Cups coming up so we've got you know want to get one Impossible 3 weeks time and then in 6 weeks we'll have 4 in Rotterdam that look at charts to see where we are. Some of the other crews you know the U.S. New Zealand Canada some of those big big crews out there no women say so at that will be interesting and then the final package the world champs and you talked about that completely fresh squad are you all that fresh 8 rather. Does that mean it's a bit more of an exciting time for British rowing you know this this fresh blood coming through and and hopefully getting getting success ahead of the Olympics I think is really exciting yeah like we obviously there's been everyone who's been before us and if so an amazing. History for British rowing we've had lots of fantastic medals and I think now it's taken it's taken a while because obviously we were all quite new quite young we only had 3 people return from the Olympics to the team for the women's side so it's hard to build a real good foundation I think over the last 2 years we have and I think now it starts showing what we've built in this qualification year so for the women say there's 5 spots available that the women's for the 7 and for the women's patters night and I think as a whole team we want to make sure we qualify all of those seats I don't think the team we've got is really capable of doing that so huge competition then really isn't it. It's design doesn't make you relish it all oh well how does that make you feel and I think it makes it has I think it has to make you relish the wise you're going to fear on you and I think you've got to be kind of on the confident side affair and trust in the training that the program you've done and you know it's British British royals always been really successful saw for us we kind of have that have that underlying confidence you know it might not it might not like it might not show in the last 2 years on the ground what we've done hopefully will show the share of next. A lot of sports now it is you know you see you see funding taken away from from athletes and sports and everything which is always a sad thing to say I mean British rowing of course is in a very healthy position but does that ever play on your mind or anything like that . I think I think like any spall it sometimes does obviously. There could be reasons that you know we might not be able to carry on an individual so illness injury or anything like that that's that's a point where you know this is a career at the end of the day ever It's also best on how well your body's working so that that can be quite fast for strength some types of worrying but as you've said she the rowing is in a good position we've we've always turned up at the Olympics and managed to secure funding and been really successful so it means that you know the generations to come that the squats to come back and that relish in the. Achievements and be able to be funded and we wouldn't be where we are without the Larissa That's incredible So you know I'm really grateful for that all the time just from what you've been saying to me then it does it there's a lot of challenges that you face you know the competition within within Great Britain great British rowing in and you know keep new body fit in all us our stuff but of course with you being from this part of the world you're away from your family and your friends for for a huge chunk of time so you've also got back to contend with as well. Yeah I have and I do I do really really miss home and you know nothing's quite the same as being a whore with being 10 minutes away from all your friends and family were if you aren't grown up in a really close knit family of the close group of friends and I really really. Relish off that and his heart that moving down to the south. That far away and I guess it would be OK if I was in a slightly more conventional job where you know you got the weekend you bank holidays we don't so I've been hauled once since Christmas pretty much 24 hours and I absolutely loved every minute of it and it was a really nice to FRESH AIR but I obviously I do miss there and pride for it's how I . Of course you homegirl and I am there's no place like the sad absolutely just finally then you know Olympics just over a year away. Getting met and of course competing there that would not be the pinnacle of you Korea. I mean it would be it would be it would be the you know if that 12 years of hard work paying off and the 12 years of commitments and sacrifice of like we've said like seeing a family missing sad events that it would all be it would all be for that for that absolutely high of success to be an Olympian teleplay be successful at the Olympics but I you know I like to stay process driven or outcome driven so I think like any athlete in my position you've got to stay on the page you're on the day you're in keep chugging away because if you look long term then you know it can be quite can be quite daunting so you've got to stay in the moment. You know like you know me thinking too much about the Olympics. Some day. It's always be like. I want to be. 29. Months we all. Know you can side but. He says some tend to make you long. Saw them both too small to try. To come. To you. To give. Me. Everything. See. Your. Bag. Knew. The song. Live. Steam. Snow. Fishings the shot in the studio sheds a festival stage with shaken Staveley and 7 day exam we were chosen to play on the B.B.C. Introducing stage at Glastonbury festival I remember distinctly behind me seeing a train of 3 or 4 people career unfold towards the stage carry what can only be described as a Green Day. If you're going to Yeah. Now. Outcast in the hey you. Pull offs in the song title Hey yeah I'm just not cool enough because when the American that's what it is and. British people say young Hey Ya ya know that's not really a British thing as well over. So there's already you know you hello there. Will be hello there instead of hey how do you do. It on my card what are you doing B.B.C. T.V. Sport extra We're here with you until 10 o'clock tonight plenty of your music to go between now and then a reminder that there was in the studio with us between 8 and 9 o'clock so if you want to listen back to that then go to B.B.C. Sounds will be up about an hour after the show and I was just thinking what would the line be instead of lend me some sugar IMO and there were probably let me some tea bags Yeah there's a lot of something other you may remember last year we had grim storm in the studio with us between 8 and 9 o'clock the people golfers been out of action for nearly a year over a year now with an ongoing wrist injury he's missed last year's European 2 as he continues to recover but the 41 year old has been getting kids involved in golf with his junior competition the mini storm series The 1st one of those was a few weeks back so we thought we'd catch up with him and see how his recovery has been going and how the 1st mini storm Series events went it's going very slowly Unfortunately unlike the middle of some injections which is like lubricant to get at the joint rush to get it open again that's kind of frozen up after the 2. Like the happened the last 12 months and the sort of setbacks that you keep getting what how does how does that impact you as a sportsman. Oh it's impacted me massively because obviously I can get out there and come pay which is what I want to be there when you know I've got to 12 months off now some chump and at the back to get out. Amongst it again and everything I'm trying to do to get myself back out there trying to stay fit in the gym and a little bit chief and important here and there but that's as much as I can do and it's just really frustrating at the moment you mention those complications that you've had after surgery and everything how can those committees be managed to all in in any sort of way I was just one of those sort of things that just happens when you've got an injury like this. Just manage in the way I am at the moment just basically you know again constant physio and. Just trying to get in the gym and get it moving as much as I possibly can and that's just about as much as I can possibly do and stay in the Sachin every couple of months just to make sure that I'm doing the right things and kind of mechanical passports just just keep trying to do everything that I'm Donatella cando and then just one that I get a counter hope you don't mind me saying Graeme you were in the studio a while back and everything else but you sound a bit down be about those are fair enough the tough mentally at the moment as as in terms of not being able to get out there and do what you love. Yeah I am a little bit down yeah because it's been over 12 months and there's been such a setback because obviously I was ready to go in January and then the major setback and then I went to have Mossad's or a kind was not what I wanted obviously it just mentally drained me a little bit so you know I'll try and stay positive by doing all the gym Wacken doing all that strength and then stuff I can possibly. Get in constant physio or just takes its toll a little bit you know remain in I just like to say I just want to get back I'll plan. It's just it's just hard and at the moment it's just kind of trying to stay positive of also kind of keep myself busy as well so with that in mind then do you have a time frame on when you might be back in action. I happen to know because last time I spoke to the stage and was. Begin this month. He basically just said Look stops that we self timeframe a target because it's only just going to mentally drain your Genota main So it's just kind of do everything you possibly can get a strong as you can get it moving as much as you can and then see where that takes shape because after I had the operation in January I thought I was going to be blocked by men to play in the base much to the hillside and unfortunately that was just impossible still to this day I'm not even in full shots the most I can head it's like. It's just a really really slow abandon process of the moment do you tend to distance yourself from goals that I know you're always keeping an eye on things are going on you're ripping into or and elsewhere as well now I think even my own as much as a possibly can. I guess I went over the head to the Sachin that he was over at Hillside so I was over the top on the ones that I was quite hard to pass as well because obviously you know you have to go to the top of the say in that and to see all the players get ready 1st saw them and such a big event was was hard to take both non-thinking from my on on the on the game on both sides of the pond I've been enjoying watching it try to pick up a few things and while I often enough I've been reading the odd ball to try and. Since I can when I come back see if I can improve my game in different areas and what I can do better I presume you've seen the remarkable performance of Tiger Woods as well winning the Masters and the comeback that he's made it's all come full circle for him really so that that sort of thing might most give you a bit of inspiration in terms of what you might have to go for it's a comeback Yeah absolutely I mean it's an amazing achievement what Tiger's gone on and on and you know to come back after what 4 says you kill whatever he's had on his back is. Amazing to then think that he's back in there when the cycle went in a major I honestly never thought that whatever happened again I didn't think that he'd come back the player that he has but it just shows you how good is you know the legendary isn't the way that he controlled himself in the Masters was just 2nd to that I was just fast class to watch and it was it was a real enjoyment to see him back in them and with the green jacket on but when we had to in the studio you were B.B.C. T.V. Spot on B.B.C. T.V. Spot extra one thing you can tell you're passionate about and just at the 1st time and recently is that many Storm series so how did everyone go with the 1st one. Yeah the mini storm series has gone really well so. The 1st one was in Appro where the running power and without a 2nd one sense of concept and then we've got another one just around the corner in a couple of weeks here when yet which will be the final one of the 3 events and then also the work at a couple of good witnessed by young girl and the kids have really enjoyed it and we've had like $45.00 kids each event and then sandwiched in between I had my Junior Open aholic over we had 110 competitors there so you know getting to grow the game in my area has actually been a bit of a cult send a small attack risk it has kept me busy and I've enjoyed it and it's just been good fun to see them out there and campaign I mean who came out on top and as you this so many events can remember. It is really difficult in the past many star we had a policy of Henry price that comes from Blankenship actually comes from the whole of England golf so to be fair he's travelled a long way to come and play in our event which is correct. And then by Costa MacIntyre won the 2nd one at concerts so it's all for grabs to be fair there's a couple of boys. Tied at the top for the many other merits it should because going into the final want to win it and you touched on it there the numbers of those kids participate in an every thing and you know you went around to schools with your wife and you know trying to get kids interested in getting involved in calls so it must be really nice to see you know the the the fruits of your labor pay off and everything yeah it's great I mean again to go into the school since the end of last year was really good for new with the tricolors that the call foundation of set up with golf ropes and when I hear it's being really really gotten the schools really embraced it and I think a few of the schools went on to buy the kids. You know just by getting them to. Dolls into Scholes has an achievement in itself because it's not a spark of people thinks that accessible so to be able to do that in the local area is being Gresham A and yeah just you know gone back to the many Starmen the kids that were 5 come to the junior or and Wisconsin such far afield I mean one by camp from there. And it comes every year so it's been the last 4 years it's amazing how much time and effort that they put in to be able to come to just my hand which is it's fantastic Well I guess Green we can all we can only wish you all more success with the many storm season everything and wish you the best in your area and your recovery and hope to see you back out on the on the fairway soon enough thank you very much guys so there's the happy fall golfer Graham storm speaking to was a little earlier talking into us about his recovery from a wrist injury read in we mentioned at the back of it at the end of the interview there really do hope he gets back on the fairway in in due time of course we will of course keep you up to date with any progress makes in terms of his comeback into golf as for the mini storm series if you're interested in final bit more about that you can do so via Graham's Twitter page or via the Web site which is W W to be thought Graeme storm doc or U.K. Forward slash mini storm. B.B.C. T.V. Spalt extra. 11. 11 let's. Play. A live. Live. Live. Live. Show. All right that one. Blue sky no wasn't sorry Mr Blue Sky. It's been a long day oh yeah I got sick honestly Paul Addison our sports editor is in the studio right now will be back in a way when a word is a bit of a yellow big funny when it all seem a few years back at the you know burning with ink really really well with are hugely jealous or at least take your advice on it anyway. But yeah it is a big yellow kill you forgot most coal in the electric blue sky and I think you want to get me out of that one baby sit. There with you for just over 15 minutes all saw on B B C T's breakfast last week Neal green Amy Yorkton spoke to 10 year old Cal Forster from Darlington absolutely lives for football but is a form of muscular dystrophy it's a genetic disorder that causes weakness of the muscles many can no longer have a kick about with his friends which is really really sad step in Teesside powerchair club which allows him to still play for his favorite game but he still needs a special chair to player or Kyle's taking on one of a number of challenges and facing some of his fears including his fear of heights get this in the hope to raise $7000.00 pounds to get that special chair including what he did the other day which included stepping out of that wheelchair along the top of the transporter bridge on a little fear of heights and you got to go at the top of the transport a bridge that's. One way to conquer it yeah pretty brave I would say what I was going to say but I'm pretty brave Yeah. It's well who was down there for us Louise hopes with your well think we'll hear from Kyle how you feelin about it tell us what you're about to do then. Thank. You excited yeah I mean this mornin you told me once got a fight still Yeah yeah it was a little bit of a brave face you're putting on a bit now you're here and you can see you're a bit nervous hey it's hi can you happy to remind us why you're doing less and less money and chat but we have to ask can you tell us again why the chat is so important and makes me go back. To the back we only know you absolutely you only There's something shiny honest for the trade for her now life has over feel. A little tight yeah oh yeah it's time you said Yeah well let's not look like. You keep anyone from you oh shit don't you know that you're going to walk. Up in your chair What is that you want to talk about you know if you heard the words I heard you were are all across the room no one can. Know it go the other side I want to go back but was longer RINGBACK than I thought it was going to be fall was yeah yeah I was like oh OK you were you would speak to know if you like the deed Yeah you seen anything that you recognize skylight Yeah I was glad cause you recognize that. You know the final days before you see all the water and so you said this. Is chilling. How you feel about how Kyle Don't say yes I'm really well have thought you would it being a bit scared of the height but no he's quite the thing that joined it actually isn't a. Really good. You know. They had to call it chip because. One of the great things about our club is a support network most of it's been through what Kyle's father has been going through so we've all got his back how important is it to him to get this child to make a massive difference to Kyle he is. Only being played about 6 months. It's just huge but he needs. To be effectively against all the of the teams in the area who want to play as how. He's playing in one of our old school chairs which was donated by another player who has one of the chairs and so it's actually imperative that he gets the structure and very soon how do you seen him change since he started to come into the club. Growing confidence he's a cheeky little man which is fantastic didn't cost anything we couldn't see what we've been through with so many players already I mean we've been going for about 7 years quite often the players have to be Duchenne muscular dystrophy they arrive around the time that Kylie is in that they're just starting to not be able to join in with their friends at football so they look for something else to do which is fantastic because our school is perfect when this fall so we have been through it but I think we've kind it seems to be happening quite quickly so it really is imperative that it's. As soon as possible to back down. Did it. Really. Thanks. To. Me. Every day from. Froggery had a seat. To this. Yes. You're. Right. She was killed. Trying. To. Kill. Chad really. And she. I use. A. Live. Live. Live. Live live live. There's of course Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody here on B.B.C. T.V. Spot actually with you for about another 5 minutes or so let's switch our attention finally to him some climbing news MARTIN Yeah you've probably seen a photograph being shed everywhere in the last week hundreds of climbers queuing to reach the summit of Mount Everest of all places overcrowding has been blamed on some of the 11 deaths so far this spring so what makes people want to climb mountains Well Alan hangs from North Yorkshire is an experience climb and he reached the summit of Everest in $196.00 ALAN KOHLER With name the name of the B.B.C. T.V. Breakfast and the last name of the risks increased in recent years no really no I mean it is hard to imagine that sort of when a 1000000 most certainly is I'm sorry here in the North Yorkshire Police only known in listening to the birds tweeting a lot seeing pictures like that before a few years ago that's a picture of a couple of 100 people. I think that use a lot of people trying it this year and there hasn't been many deaths in many years last year I didn't go on the major commenting about any deaths so I think people got complacent and the battle that killed would have come to be to a few deaths no doubt about it yeah I think most of the deaths are not due to the cave in every table get killed the neighbors where there's a key will not I mean can I mean the thought of climbing Mount Everest is not something I can wrap my head of time for me. Pinnacle of a climb as Korea I mean is part of the problem a lot of people being said it's inexperienced walkers climb as you know taking on this challenge do you agree with that there's a bit of truth in that it's certainly a lot more dangerous than Rose breaks up in spray that way that's being flippant but it isn't the deaths on Everest. And that's where humans can do it you live from are about was no chance that a cop to rescue the high salary can get is a 6 hour 1000 leaches no rescue teams and so you're going to dive several to call monetary matters acute mountain sickness flu tension on the brain of a longs and so waits in a queue for 5 hours you could literally die in there and you. It could get frostbite in a bit jumpy to it so it is pretty dangerous and I'm looming large enough to win a key right when I rented those just 3 minutes and just more of us we have the mountain to ourselves essentially. The pinnacle of Mt entertainment Well it's the highest mountain on earth Oracle statistically bored to death in sales a couple of the contenders that are but anyway is the highest mountain and you want to stay and not sterilized of course a level but it's not the 1st prize to a lot of mountaineers that might be K.C. The 2nd highest or some other now Ali mountain to be honest so to use a comparison K 2 to Everest what is the difference in terms of climbing K 2 to then go on to do Everest give us give us a kind of habitation is nearly as hybrids much more difficult and colder got worse weather more avalanche conditions or harder to get to Everest as possibly had you know exactly 7000 to sense and 2300 ish deaths Kati's up 300 a sense and 90 deaths put in perspective so when I saw care to that was a mound I wanted to climb I wasn't that bothered if I have or some cases like this we produce good Rosebery topping only much more impressive and it took me 3 years to do Kate to dedicate to an 83 years I'm a life to it so that meant more to me that like the gold medal more than Everest and then Everest I was a witness account among them in an attempt by Brian Blessed that. This was great I feel privileged of snow in the highest mountain in the world and my heart goes out to the families of these people are being killed you know but sometimes we say they were doing what they wanted to do. So the climate speaking to me about the recent problems comma sophist when heading up Everest but I think that's about it 1st night. It certainly is yeah. B.B.C. Breakfast with the sport update in the morning and we'll be back next Tuesday which is of course the 11th of June so whatever you do have a very good evening well next. B.B.C. News at 10 on more old US and president trumps insisted the N.H.S. Must be on the table if he's to secure a phenomenal trade deal with the U.K. Off to price it speaking after talks with to reason that he said Britain and the US had the greatest alliance the world had ever known but David Haneke former U.K. Trade negotiator says it won't be easy making deals with Mr Trump trick in the US don't tend to give out any free gifts and that trite negotiations you really need to know what up where all your interests lie the ones you want to protect the ones you want to promote and you really need to know what it is you want to I'm trying really detailed level and that's no great evidence that the U.K. Is ready for that yet meanwhile Mr Trump says he turned down a request from Jeremy Corbin for a meeting and dismissed him as a negative force the labor leaders spoke at a protest in Central London against the president's state visit demonstrations were held in a number of other cities too including Edinburgh and Stoke basically where it's come today and I thought the feeling of being on again strong it was just interviewed on this morning. To hear that was. Huge box full of. Going to be playing for you. You call it. All different styles. It's. Technically it isn't. By show it's cool and then I tell you what tonight's big question is. That the. Above. The by. The book.
