Now training is well underway the Himalayan expedition shining in Tampa has taken place later in the year The anyway spoke to the expedition leader wing commander but instead man and media of said flight attendant Charlie cone in October of this year. Seen all unfolding of all their forces different colors of air space control and we walked in a cold to some it never peak which stands at just over 21000 feet or 6476 meters the reason we're doing it is the event called us base control is made up of 2 schools the school bell patients control and all the actual plea and the school all that as they battle management former living in personnel from both those schools together to go out in a pool to climb the mountain it's quite a challenge. Yourselves why did you decide to do that well they wanted to do something different we wanted something that was going to stretch us and unify us as a team and I'd been reading a few books about Paul and I noticed that a peek at a Central was 1st climbed by the British army officer was about on the wall a fortnight ago all the see it 6 metres to the top to the summit if you like so what's your type of training have you been doing to prepare for this so I don't quite know so far we started off last year in December receiving some briefings on how to shoot sickness how to avoid becoming ill due to the altitude that we're going to be operating within so that all of us out of a good understanding of how to look after ourselves and each other was out there then beginning of this year we all met up in Grant and on space in the Congo arms and start doing some winter skills mountaineering so the skills we need to understand in layers of ass rescue walking on the ground all those good skills and more training to come over the next few days yet so we're going to be in the Lake District for the next couple of days what's Guen working on the on building the teams because we operate out of 2 separate stations so getting the 10 bodies together just doing some hill fitness as well and then the flashing some of those skills we learnt up in the condoms and the culmination of the expedition own a very poignant day yes we actually summit on Armistice Day on the 11th of November will be something big and it's always will wear will be the highest British military team on that. Point and one commander said and find very much nice but surely don't you are the media officer for this whole expedition and I believe you're going to keep in the block Yeah I think one of the things we want to try and get across to our training in that but it thousands want to actually take to organize something of this size and how much training is actually required to complete the challenge they are today that we want. Blog about everything we're doing in the lead up to that whether that packing the week before we go all the trading activations are going to do in the lead up to think people realize actually what it takes to to actually summit this mountain it's not going to be 3 weeks in a pole it's been a year in the planning and in the training for and where will people be able to access top log onto what your progress if you like the blog is on medium dot com And by just searching shining endeavor on the medium blog site they can pick up the blog and every training expedition we do it is already 2 blogs on there. And every training we do will be blunt about as well as any planning. That we come across that we think will be interesting and useful for people to read about look forward to following your progress here on Forces Radio. Thank you very much and good luck thank you.
