Terry breaks has just become a Beefeater of the Tower of London becoming the 408th Yemen his intensive training involves learning the story and history of the tower and relaying it to thousands of tourists that visit every day she went to the tower to meet him I came here with my son she is a guy and I did the. Mordor tall and I was so impressed with the way that all was done and when he said the reason he gave me more ticks of his warrants officer than 22 years had his long service I think. I've done it on the. Victory whilst I was in the role Navy and I really enjoyed my time on there working with the public me in the public learn in the history so it just seemed a good step to go from one to the other and what does Beefeater actually mean what it was the word mean basically people say that because with the shortened bodyguard of the royal family we could eat on the king's table and if he had beef we had beef some people say that we paid him beef but I said there's nothing actually written down to say you up if he is because some people say it's because we love. How to Become a a feature of processed Well you need to do a minimum of 22 years be the rank of a warrant officer or equivalent and have your long service good conduct medal I had done 32 years in the role Navy chief the rank of one of Sas and I had my long service good conduct with so that allowed me to send in my application form within 3 criteria fantastic and they have as the outfit compare with the with the navy want to be because I don't have to on a white shirt. I just have to. Warm and then put on the uniform the uniform itself is what annoyed would have worn underneath his armor back in the day I'm not sure if I had the smart trousers self because we were like placement of the tower so it's based on a place and it's actually quite hard to actually quite quite so many trust Akashi from behind so it's where it comes from and you live here at the have a town What's the coolest thing about living here privileged enough to live here that's how I have a gorgeous little to bed house than I'm in straight west. As it used to be naive but fantastic. Commute to work across tower green with the Tower Bridge and the White Tower it's just amazing series I have to pinch myself in the morning sometimes So just looking around where we are now could just tell us a little bit about some the buildings and some of the the stores around us at the moment runs how a crane this is more of a chewed building and there was over quite famous names that were imprisoned in here there was obviously the White Tower is behind this famous what was the original basically that that was built intensive and Shiite that everything was built around here succession of queens and kings and pos every 2 next 200 years built the ward and then the outer wall and it just got bigger and bigger over the many hundreds of years oh emotional I was the kind of working heir and living it but it's quite funny. Really is it going from the military straight into a young woman. A military background whether it be the Army they're all Navy or the Air Force so the banter is quite quite good. Everybody's at that ranks really good fun do you get any extra pounds for being the new boy lots especially in Royal Navy knew boys well so an awful lot of banter but yeah quite good in the short. Order as well I guess I lost. Interest good fun brilliant stuff great chat Richard Hatch Navy veteran Terry Briggs and you can see pictures of Harry and you can also see a little video of him chatted to average online forces don't met forward slash radio listening to that just makes me go want to go to London and head to the tower do that kind of touristy thing that you might be doing with your family is coming back I'm in the summer. Did a whole jam on the law is just ahead of knowing the case. It is a way. Of satellite t.v. In the u.k. . This is radio the. For one thing as a British soldiers are going to be given vaccines against anthrax poisoning after the nerve agent attack in Seoul's break defense secretary Gavin Williamson will make the announcement in a keynote speech today he'll also give details of a 48000000 pound investment in a chemical weapons defense center at Porton Down in Wiltshire Meanwhile foreign secretary Boris Johnson has dismissed claims that the u.k.
