Dragna, thank you for joining us. The government has to come to some sort of decision, where are we . We are running out of time, the house came back for the first time in more than a month today for the first votes and we are obviously barreling down the password to shut down, both chambers havent really begun in earnest to talk about how they are going to get out of this, i think a shortterm path is most likely. But where we have 11 or 12 vegetative days left and the outlook remains cloudy. As far as what has been going done on in the background and coming up with a framework or plan that republicans can support, what is going on with that front . Certainly, that is what we are looking for today, we are expecting the House Freedom caucus to have a press conference this afternoon to lay out how they see the landscape shaping up. As you were alluding to, there is a meeting of the rules committee this afternoon, they are trying to take up one bill as a part of the spending package, we will see if they can even do that, that might be a harbinger of where things stand in the in terms of the appropriations packages. There has been an effort i think for trying to move a continuing resolution, to buy themselves more time and negotiate a comprehensive framework. So far we have not seen by an from the rank, or if that approach is going to be successful and obviously time is running short. When you talk about the House Freedom caucus, what are they looking for to agree to some type of funding deal . They are frustrated with the deal, of course between Speaker Mccarthy and President Biden earlier this year, with lifting the debt ceiling, those were negotiated obviously, it is going to be a nonstarter for the senate and President Biden. So it remains unclear what exactly they could want that Speaker Mccarthy could possibly give them, given the fact that we have a democratic held senate, obviously President Biden is in the white house. So, i think in terms of the outlook here about what could be given, im not really sure what it looks like, i suppose we are going to see those demands laid out in clear terms today but certainly Speaker Mccarthy is going to have a tough job here, to placate the far right portion of the caucus as well as the moderates and the senate and the white house to sign off on it. Is it the speaker himself reaching out to members of the House Freedom caucus to come to some type of resolve, is it the majority leader doing that . I think the house is going to come back together for the first time in more than a month, we are going to expect to see a lot of those conversations happening in person, i think even to the extent those conversations have been remotely, when they are out of washington, getting back together as a way of bringing those emotions to the forefront, i expect that is what we are going to see this week and obviously time is short, so i think those conversations are going to have to happen pretty quickly. I think that is why we are going to be so anxious to see the freedom caucus, the rules committee representative, matt gaetz is going to take the floor later, theres a lot of potential headaches here for Speaker Mccarthy and to the extent people are able to voice theres concerns upfront, i think that will be helpful in determining what the outlook looks like at least from the house perspective. You brought up the house, but how are Senate Republicans looking at that activity or lack of activity, maybe in the house when it comes to these efforts . Its really interesting, it is a split screen with the senate, the senate is going to be taking a procedural vote today, the first package since three of these bills. Its as if they are proceeding more or less under regular order, that is taking great pains to highlight a contrast to the house and they are trying to pass these appropriation measures, and of course as they run up against the fact that they need to merge these together to get something that is going to get to the president s desk. But, right now it could not be a more stark contrast to the house and they are proceeding as though, how things normally go every year. We have been talking to the audience about this idea of asking comments on this pending issue or this potential impeachment inquiry, could that complicate efforts when it comes to funding . I think that remains an open question here. How exactly that impeachment potentially plays in terms of the spending process, remains very much an open question, whether or not that gets votes on the right, maybe that, maybe that leads you some moderates, obviously some seats that President Biden won in 2020, and whether they would support such an inquiry or have that in play. So im not sure if we yet know the extent to which the analysis is getting you a vote, im not so sure. But, we are certainly going to have to see and certainly that might be something that Speaker Mccarthy has in his hand as he is looking to rally the votes to get people behind some sort of approach that is going to keep the government open.
