Reporter but the heavily redacted files known as 302 show an fbi official describe the incident with Patrick Kennedy one of secretary clintons trusted lieutenants as a quid pro quo. They emphasize again today it never happened. Kennedy wanted Clinton Emails downgraded to unclassified. And in exchange there was discussion of more overseas posts for fbi agents. An fbi 302 does not contain opinion work by the fbi. If somebody said that somebody offered me something for something else, and thats in the 302, that agent is going to say i am sure thats exactly what happened. Reporter kennedy pushed hard for classification changes to the Clinton Emails after congress issued a subpoena and retention order in march of 2015. Trying to change the emails after march 4, 2015, would change or alter the evidence requested by congress. First of all, those documents were foia process not necessarily what we shared with congress. Reporter the Fbi Department shows Career Department personnel were, quote, suspicious of a special group of employees brought into review the classification of Clinton Emails. Some worked with david kendall, Hillary Clintons longtime personal attorney. The fbi documents call it a shadow government. Hillary clinton was out there trying get her former people at williams and connelly, her own attorneys to be the ones that made the determination on the documents. Not the career professionals within the state department. That goes to intent and goes so far beyond what is reasonable in our expectation of how that. The state departments position is there was no contest . No conflict of interest. The mere fact of previously working at what is a very Large Law Firm does not in and of itself constitute a conflict of interest. Reporter late today, the Washington Post published the first interview with Brian Mccauley who said he and kennedy agreed to do a favor for one another. When mccauley found out classified benghazi email was involved he turned kennedy down. One of the colleagues told investigators mccauley pressured him to change the email to unclassified and relayed the conversation with kennedy as a quid pro quo. As we reported to you here tonight, a Pew Research Report shows that one in eight Voter Registration in this country are, quote, significantly inaccurate or no longer valid. When donald trump says the selection rigged, thats an understatement, it appears to me when i look at the pew research numbers, four million dead or invalid registrations . There is no question you need to basically have a system that purges people after they pass on, but its a very difficult task, and i think whats very important, lou, is not to make im having a hard time with a word here, to make this election in most cases is honest and decent. And secretary of state and county clerks and everybody worries about the things youre talking about because of four Million People are dead. There is no evidence four Million People vote and half may be republicans. You dont know whos dead or not dead. You have to scrutinize, dont legitimize the election lou and ive got to take exception to that. Take exception to it. Show me evidence of where this is occurring . Lou heres where i want to you want to explain the 18 Million People . Four million dead . Im talking about right now a federal program with 30 million behind it to register people who have just crossed the border from mexico for crying out loud. Ed, weve got to take this seriously. Im not arguing about not taking it seriously. There is no evidence at this point in time. There is a 30 million program. Voted yet, they havent by absentee ballot and walk in and say you are not going to stop in advance. The two parties have to protect their vote and they do, and secretaries of state lou let me add a couple of thing fis may for your consideration. One is the department of Homeland Security wants to take responsibility for these elections, wants to be a, if you will, supervising them because of the external threats when there appear to be as many internal threats to the elections. I have great faith in secretaries of state and volunteers all over the country. But the honor system in this country and electoral system is no longer valid. We have moved way beyond that and im afraid, given electronic voting, all of the issues that weve got, weve got an immense problem here, ed. None of this did i want to get down this deep in. I wanted to ask but the fact were watching collusion and corruption on a massive scale in washington, d. C. Have you ever seen the like . No, ill certainly confirm that. I just think first of all, id be against Homeland Security running National Elections in this country. This has been a state right forever and you have to do a constitutional amendment which takes threequarters of the congress to vote for that and twothirds of the congress. That isnt going to happen. You got to fix it at the state and county level. Lou this becomes an academiclevel discussion. I like the more proximate, that is in point of fact, you have documents of interviews with federal bureau of investigation agents and officials in which they are being asked by Patrick Kennedy of the state department for a quid pro quo. He was offering a bribe for key postings to various parts of the world. What do you make of it . I think if they can prove, that thats outrageous, at the end of the day, when you get in there, this was a document which i assume was in the subpoena to the congress and to alter that document is an obstruction of justice. Thats separate, different. Im all for that. But i just think the key thing here, the drumbeat on making this election not legal is doing a great disservice to a lot of americans who are going to vote, win by a landslide, thats the key.
