Now they have yet another hazard to worry about and that is a big concern tonight that it is not something that just firefighters are facing. This is something they are warning everybody about from joggers to hikers. Firefighters dont typically walk into this sort of danger. A pit filled with wooden stakes. This is a classic definition of a booby trap. Autothis would do is hurt someone walking in the area. People walking in to bring food to the people in that encampment. Reporter a firefighter was hiking to a fire in a homeless encampment at a fire at Communications Hill sunday. He stepped into this booby trap. He wasnt injured, but the Fire Department sent out this warning telling firefighters to watch out. The spikes could be poison that could cause a long term infection to a person stepping on it. Reporter san jose fire doesnt know who set the trap or why. Homeless advocate robert gary used to live in the jungle which was closed down last month.
