But those Companies Grow up and move on and so the mayor told me tonight that is what needs to keep happening so the town can manage its growth. Reporter current growth pace of the tech economy is at an unsustainable rate. Palo alto has a problem, too many jobs, too many big Tech Companies. We are growing jobs faster than the region can add transportation, Housing Solutions and faster than we need. Reporter larger firms are buying up a lot of office space downtown. What they are doing is squeezing out the start up companies and the Business Services and the eco system that made this a start up environment. Reporter the mayor says the plan includes disinsentsvising office space and increasing incentives to buy homes. Unfordable for many. We need have a plan for the future. Cant be the wild west. Maybe it needs to slow down. Although thats not what you hear. We have almost zero unployment. We need to look at how unemployment. We need to look at how why should we hold on to every job and dollar. Not healthy for us. And deprives other regions from that opportunity. In san jose this evening a call about a possible burglary turned into a bomb square. Police responded to a possible break in at a storage unit this afternoon. While there officers found a suspicious device and called in the bomb squad. The area was evacuated as a precaution. Including several blocks just west of San Jose State University campus. The bomb squad gave the all clear and lifted the evacuations. A bigger emergency in san jose. They released a statement confirming she was placed on paid administrative leave for personnel issues. But didnt explain what issues. High ranking officials were blind sided by her sudden leave saying it came out of left field. Kpix 5 learned the chiefs husband a retired naval officer had a contract to provide surfaces to the Police Department and other agencies. A contract approved by the city council two years ago before they married. The city manager said she could not respond to our questions on whether his contract is still in effect or if it presented a conflict of interest for the chief. The Police Department has been through a lot. They lost one of their own. Shot and killed in the killed in the line of duty.
