But this is all coming off the heel of some pretty tense moments last week at this very school where a lot of parents and students were on edge because of unsubstantiated claims there were some clowns in the area posting threats on social media. There are rumors that may be connected to this. But police say this is not the case. There were never any clowns on campus. Luckily, everyone is safe. Theyve made the all clear. There were a lot of people waiting to get inside. You can see they have all now entered the pavilion and now were waiting for donald trump. The man accused of shooting and killing his own grandmother we have learned now identified. So this is what was going on yesterday. He kept police busy for hours during a standoff before finally surrendering to police. Krystal kyndell nunley, shes been on top of the story, is live outside the clark county detention center. Kyndell we are learning more about this man including his name and who he is. Currently here at the county jail behind bars. He faces charges connected to the murder of his grandmother and will be in court tomorrow. Just two hours ago Police Released his booking photo and he is accused of following his grandmother out of their home near lake mead and rampart where police say he beat her in the street then shot and killed her. Neighbors watched it unfold. Some tried to save her by giving her cpr but he was pronounced dead she was pronounced dead in the street inside the home. Police say francis refused to leave the backyard. Nearby homes had to be evacuated. After three hours he finally surrendered. Right now we have a suspect in custody and a Family Member he has shot and killed. The motivation or the how this interaction happened, i dont have that answer. Kyndell this marks the 128th homicide investigated by metro to mark [ lost audio ]. Michelle all right we lost our connection to kyndell. Thats the latest that that story. Lets get you up to date with another one. The man accused of driving drunk and killing a motorcyclist in a violent crash, he stood before a judge today for the first time. In his initial hearing, bail 29yearold felipe was set at 100,000. If he makes the bail he will be placed under house arrest through an alcohol location monitoring program. 43yearold Julio Salazar was riding his harley davidson. He was in the southbound lanes of the i15 right near russell road when he was involved in this crash and ultimately lost his life. Salazar was pronounced dead at umc. Krystal a major closure on the spaghetti bowl. That we want to tell you about. Close temporarily set to reopen at 6 00 a. M. If you are heading northbound on the 15 you will need to detour to u. S. 95 southbound exit at las vegas boulevard then turn left to reenter the u. S. 95 northbound. So a little closure. Well a little more than a little closure. But we wanted to make you aware of that. And because theres two stoplights when you are exiting off las vegas boule suspect theres going to be a big backup of people because of those stoplights. Krystal so avoid it if you can. Michelle powerful Hurricane Matthew passing through the sparsely located populated islands of the southern bahamas earlier today after it already hit southwest haiti hard. Krystal my goodness. Michelle forecasters say the storm is on track to roll directly over [ inaudible ] before nearing the florida coast. Theyre very concerned in florida right now. And theyre vac waiting homes ahead of the big storm. Look at that doesnt that kind of look apocalyptic to you . This is south carolina. So youve got all the traffic going in one direction as people are fleeing the city. Not one car coming in to the city. So that just kind of gives you an idea how serious this storm is as people try to scramble and get out ahead of that storm. And weve been talking to kelly about this. Trending yesterday. I want you to look closely at it. Because a lot of people say that this is a very creepy picture which appears to be almost like a skull. A face of a skull that was caught by the weather channel. Then downgraded to a four as it hit haiti. That picture is its just a little unsixers ofing. Nerving. A lot of people saying its depicting how many people feel about this. Like a mon store. Everybody heading out. Everybody heading for higher this is Hurricane Matthew. Right now latest update puts it at sustained winds, not gusts, sustained winds of 120 miles an hour. That makes it still a category 3. That is still a major hurricane. The bad news is here that its actually expected to strengthen. So check out this graphic i have built here. Here it is. Category 3. South end of the bahamas. Its going to strengthen as it moves northwestward to a category 4. There it is off the coast of miami. Expected to be a category 4. Evening. By friday morning its moving up to the central part of the state then hooks north and east. Still as its off the coast of georgia a category 4. Then turning more and starting to move back out to sea. But this is what we call a cone of error here. Really what were expecting is for the hurricane to be somewhere within this cone during this timeframe. If it stays right along the red line it will hug the edge of the coastline. A little bit to the left and it and it stays out to sea.
