This is happening at catawba plantation subdivision on Pointer Ridge drive. We have brand new information just in. In the last few minutes. That swat situation has just ended. And our Ashton Pellom is getting images from the scene that youre looking at here, is being told by cmpd the man has been arrested in this swat situation and that he was wanted for murder in halifax county. The man surrendered without incident. Well continue to ask questions at the swat scene but again, the swat situation ending minutes ago, a man wanted for murder has since surrender to police. Well update you throughout the morning. City Council Members approved an expansion of the toed a pro ten shuns for Lgbt Community. Seven Council Members vote in favor of expanding the ordinance. Four gave it the thumbs down. 250 people packed the chamber to speak in favor and against the proposal. Starting april 1st, members of the Lgbt Community will receive new protections including being able to use the bathroom of the gender which they identify. Some members who voted against the ordinance say they did not see the need for this. To give you a break down how Council Members voted, austin, mitchell, autry, eiselt, mayfield, kinsey and vi lyles were all in favor. Driggs. Fallon, phipps and smith opposed it. 140 people were on the list to speak at the Council Meeting and took hours to hear everyones opinion. Those who spoke either for or against the ordinance were split almost evenly, which is different from the last time the debate was before the council. People opposed to it. The ordinance deals with a lot more than bathrooms but that consumed most of the comments. Many worried about the safety of their children. One transgender woman told council she is not a predator, she wants equal rights. They are afraid i want to victimize children. Many Business Owners were worried about how this will affect them. Businesses have been targeted for their beliefs, why do we think it will be any different in charlotte . There was one man who was asked to leave last night, you see him here dressed in a kings costume, he spoke out against the ordinance. I think that is a mistake, im not asking any parent just as i wouldnt expect myself to sacrifice their own childs education for another child. They want to improve education for everyone. Troopers say 43yearold robert jones was driving a pickup truck that crashed in the log truck yesterday afternoon on Ferguson Ridge drive near highway 321. Jury selection could begin in a case involving a man from cornelius accused of shooting at assaulting his wife. Charles sane is a successful businessman and former army officers.
