We have snow on the way, its not a big snowstorm like a blizzard we had. This is mostly periods of snow, but its going to be a little inconvenient. As the snow moves in remember, low visibility because we expect it at the time of our commutes tomorrow morning. We could see snow and tomorrow night we could see snow when a lot of people may be on the road. The heaviest we expect tomorrow night. We have the totals in a second. Along with this we have more coastal flooding of concern as we go into tonight and tomorrow morning. So ill show you that in a second. Right now heres a storm system to the west, rain with it and snow showers, notice how its not very organized. Now, its going to start to move in tonight so well see areas getting snow. Right now, though, were dry, we have very light precip to the west trying to move in. But in the meantime we dont expect it until later tonight. Were going to stay dry for the next several hours. Winter weather threats across the area. We have the winter storm warning in pink, advisory in purple. The purple areas we expect snow. The pink we expect really the most snow and at an inconvenient time. This is until 6 00 a. M. Wednesday accumulating snow during the commutes well be here tracking it for you but keep that in mind, give yourself extra time and extra distance on the roadways. Heres a look at the Flood Warning i mentioned for the jersey shore and the delaware beaches until noon tuesday. Moderate coastal flooding at high tide. Tonight between 7 and 8 00 p. M. And tomorrow morning between 7 30 and 8 30 in the morning. Were already seeing the flooding and we expect more at high tide times. Temperatures now are a little too warm for snow to be sticking. Were around 40 degrees for most of the area. But these numbers will be dropping overnight and some of the snow moving in will be able to stick to surfaces. Then well see breaks in it as we go through tomorrow. Here is future weather. We go through the next several hours, snow starts to move in by 9 00 p. M. You see temperatures dropping to around freezing in vineland. This is not going to be covering the entire area. I think well be areas of snow kind of covering parts of south jersey and delaware at a time. 8 00 tomorrow morning we could see rain down to our south with warmer temperatures, but then look at philadelphia at 31, we could see snow around for the morning commute tomorrow, by the middle of the day we could see breaks, kind of periods of snow, 4 00 in the afternoon we should see more approaching the area. Then its 8 00 tomorrow night. Notice how there is snow in south jersey, parts of pennsylvania, delaware and continuing to move through the major interstates by 10 00 p. M. This snow could be falling fairly heavy. Temperatures cl s dropping. That would be sticking. Well be watching that closely for you. And then as we go through the afternoon well start to see a lot more clearing for wednesday. Now to the forecast for the snow total, 2 to 4 around the philadelphia area. 1 to 3 in new jersey and north and west you go we could see localized areas of about 4 to 6 inches that will be closer to parts of Chester County and off to the south and west. For tonight though were going to see temperatures dropping below freezing, snow developing mainly after midnight. 30 for the low, 26 areas north and west. Then tomorrow a day where we have periods of snow, most of it will be melting but the heaviest tomorrow night we do expect to be accumulating, potentially sticking, so well be watching that and take a look at the temperatures going into the weekend, it is going to get really cold this weekend. Up next, the new uber feature about to cut costs for people in the area who use the ride sharing service. Plus, Street Corner shocker. Sheena parveen is addressing the flooding concerns at the coast. Glenn, how much snow should we expect . By morning i dont think were going to get much more than an inch or so on average. By tomorrow night a different story, some places will get 3 to 5 or even 6 inches of snow. But that will be more localized. We have a first alert out. This is a long lasting event tonight into wednesday morning. Its not going to be snowing the entire time, were talking about periods of snow with low visibility when it gets heavier. The heaviest later tuesday and tuesday night. A lot of the snow tonight will melt as it falls. It will be light and the temperatures are higher and more significant coastal flooding. The winter storm warning covers the philadelphia area down to central delaware and all of the southern half of new jersey. We dont have anything close by yet. But its getting a little bit closer. Were starting to see some returns closer to harrisburg and down near baltimore even though much of that is not reaching the ground. This is an indication the atmosphere is getting more moist. There is moisture to the west. You can see the swirl with the upper air system. This is a different type of storm than what weve seen. Its not anything like the blizzard, its not like what we saw on friday either. The temperatures you can see above freezing through much of the night in philadelphia area. By 10 00 were seeing a little light snow, its a little heavier perhaps toward daybreak. By the time its over, 4 to 6 inches across parts of New Castle County and Chester County. Those counties should end up with the most and 2 to 4 inches in much of the rest of the area. Well break this down a little later. Lets go to Sheena Parveen with more on the coastal flooding threat. Thats right, glenn. Were seeing coastal flooding and we expect two more tide cycles that are going to make things worse. We expect moderate flooding for the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. You see it in the green shaded areas. These are the flood threats, coastal Flood Warning here, moderate coastal flooding at the time of high tide. So again we have another one tonight between 7 and 8 00, and another tomorrow morning between 7 30 and 8 30 in the morning, so if you are along the shore or the delaware beaches those are the times you need to keep in mind. Were looking in delaware at Sussex County, and also this is our storm surge, so we expect mostly about one foot here but the high tide 7 36, tomorrow 8 06 in the morning. Cape may county mostly 1 to 2 feet, back bays youll see a little more flooding as the water comes onshore it has nowhere to go in the bays so it does end up gettingment is of the most flooded areas. And now atlantic county, mostly 1 to 2 but again, in the back bays we could see a little more. Possibly 3. High tide time 7 20 and tomorrow morning 7 42. As we go up to ocean county, same thing. All of the jersey shore and the delaware beaches thats going to be the main threat tonight and tomorrow morning. Keep in mind those high tide times with the new moon that is going to cause more moderate flooding across the area. Aside from that were tracking the timing of the snow coming up ill show you the latest updates and how much you can expect and when it will clear out. Looking forward to that. Not all day tomorrow, were going to see periods of snow through the area but low visibility will be expected especially tomorrow night, thats when we expect some of the heaviest snow and more coastal flooding as we go through tonight and early tomorrow morning with high tide times. Were seeing coastal flooding tomorrow well be seeing more mainly moderate coastal flooding. Here is the system were watching for tomorrow, not very organized, its off to our west but its slowly approaching but you see kind of scattered snow and rain showers. So well be watching those times very closely with the moderate flooding. We could see about 1 to 2 foot of a storm surge too. Here is future weather. Temperatures currently are around 40 degrees. But as we go overnight they are going to drop. This is 10 00 tonight. At this time we could certainly see snow across part of the area, maybe parts of south jersey up in philadelphia approaching Lancaster County some of the suburbs north and west. Temperatures around freezing. We could see some of this sticking for sure. And then by tomorrow morning for the morning commute some light snow showers, possible, rain farther to our south. Temperatures around freezing. I think well see breaks through the day, so this is all kind of broken up not very organized but by 5 00 p. M. We could see another area of snow approaching, we do expect this one to move in tomorrow evening because that would definitely be accumulating. 8 00 tomorrow night, temperatures right around freezing. But maybe a couple degrees above that once this snow moves in the its heavy enough which we expect it will be dropping temperatures down to the Freezing Point and sticking. And lasting into the morning commute wednesday morning. So really, tomorrow night into wednesday morning, thats the area where we do expect the most snowfall to be occurring. 32 degrees by wednesday morning, snow still falling and sticking, then clearing out just in time for lunch on wednesday. But here are some of the totals. 4 to 6 possibly, some of the highest amounts chester, lancaster, maybe New Castle County. 2 to 4 philadelphia to trenton. North and west, Lehigh Valley and for most of south jersey and delaware. Well be watching that closely. Aside from that, once it leaves and we go into the weekend take a look at this cold air moving in. That is going to give us single digit temperatures as we go through part of your weekend. Tonight snow mainly after midnight. 30 for the low in philadelphia, 26 areas north and west. Then tomorrow well see periods of snow, most of this melting but heavy enough once it moves through it will be dropping temperatures to freezing and then it would be sticking. So mostly going to be likely tomorrow night especially, then wednesday we clear up but look at the cold air i showed you.
