Ames police are hoping this is their chance to crack a tragic case thats gone unsolved for about a month. Jack in december, 18 year old emmalee jacobs was killed in a hit and run. She was a freshman at isu, and was walking to a final exam at about 7 a. M. Stephanie it happened at the intersection she was found lying in the street by a campus officer as he was driving down the road. Stephanie her loved ones are still waiting for some kind of closure. As no arrests have been made in the case. Local fives Nikki Davidson joins us now to explain why this has been a difficult investigation. Nikki yeah stephanie. Police have had quite a few roadblocks with this case. But theyre hoping now. Several weeks later theyll find out who did this. But theyre going to need the help of the public. The day after 18 year old emmalee jacobs was found in the street near the lincoln way and ash avenue intersection. Friends of the Freshman Student had already filled the area with flowers and messages. But still four weeks later. There are no answers to whos responsible for her death. Police say the timing of the tragic incident has played a significant role in their investigation. She was killed during finals week. 20 28 04 potential witnesses could have been leaving town, and we didnt get to them before the left that week. We are hoping they come forward. Other challenges in the investigation are they dont know when exactly the accident happened. What kind of vehicle. Or even what way the driver was traveling down this road nat they say it may have been hard to see what happened. Weather played a factor in visability. But they believe someone must have seen something.
