The cartoonist forced at gunpoint to let the killers in hid with her daughter under a desk and was spared. Another contributor to the newspaper was supposed to be there that morning but overslept. And the chilling aftermath captured in this photo. But also new details about the attackers themselves. For all the coldblooded methodical precision of their attack when you look at the tight cluster of the bullet marks on the police car. A tight cluster of shots right at the target. They arent shooting wildly. These are people who know what they are doing. The gang entered and called name by name and they were shot in the head. And discovered in the back seat of the car said kouachi now identified as a suspected assailant. His younger brother cherif has been associated with terrorism for years and they told french intelligence that one of the brothers received training from al qaeda in yemen in 2011. Both are on a u.
