Western Grebe

• Source: projectnoah.org
Description: This is a large diving waterbird, the largest of the grebes. It has a dark black cap that begins at the base of the bill and extends over the top of the head and down the long neck. The black cap includes the eyes, which differentiates it from Clark’s Grebe. The back and wings are a dark gray to black. The lower sides of the head and front of the neck are white down to and including the breast and underside. The bill is greenish and the eye is red. Habitat: Notes: I only got the one decent shot as it was at some distance, but a first for my list.
