So does Eric O’Keefe, the conservative activist best known for opposing the John Doe probe of Walker’s campaign. So do many of the state’s Republican legislators.  The national effort, which some believe is close to having enough state support to call for a constitutional convention, has been tracked by the Madison-based Center for Media and Democracy (CMD). And the Huffpost recently did a deep dive into the issue with a detailed story entitled, “A Radical Right-Wing Dream To Rewrite The Constitution Is Close To Coming True.”

UW-Madison chancelor, legislators use hide records from the public

View Comments In March, The Washington Post reported that University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank sought to move a conversation around the COVID-19 pandemic and students returning to campus in the fall to a private portal used by presidents and chancellors of the 14 Big Ten universities. “I would be delighted to share information,” Blank responded in an email chain begun last August by University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel, “but perhaps we can do this through the Big 10 portal, which will assure confidentiality?” Blank apologized after the story broke, but did not go so far as to say that she would provide responsive communications through the Big 10 portal to record requesters in the future.

Every community across the country is full of bridges in need of repair, streets and highways that need repaving, and water and sewer lines with leaks. If there ever was a something-for-everyone program, it would seem to be infrastructure. After all, nearly two-thirds of Americans think that the federal government isn’t spending enough on infrastructure projects where they live.

Food as Medicine — The Answer to Mounting Health Crises

Food as Medicine The Answer to Mounting Health Crises Dr. Robert Lustig, a pediatric endocrinologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco, has written a number of excellent books about health. His latest, “Metabolical: The Lure and the Lies of Processed Food, Nutrition, and Modern Medicine” goes deep into the details of how changes in our food supply have damaged our metabolic health. (The created term “metabolical” is actually a portmanteau of the words “metabolic” and “diabolical.”) “I wrote it because nothing else has worked,” Lustig says . “Part of the problem is this is such a complicated issue. There are too many stakeholders and you have to find a method for making everyone happy. Until you do, you can’t solve it.
