Gloria J. Browne-Marshall Gloria J. Browne-Marshall is the host of Your Democracy, a program dedicated to exploring how the Constitution holds up against the complexities of 21st century American life in ways the framers could not have foretold. She is a Professor of Constitutional Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). She teaches classes in Constitutional Law, Race and the Law, Evidence, and Gender and Justice. She taught in the Africana Studies Program at Vassar College prior to John Jay. She is a civil rights attorney who litigated cases for Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama, Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc.. She addresses audiences nationally and internationally. Gloria J. he helped select nominees to New York’s highest court NEW YORK – January 13, 2021 – Alan Mansfield, a beloved and highly respected New York litigation attorney who helped shape the New York State Court of Appeals as a 25-year member of the New York State Commission on Judicial Nomination, passed away January 11, 2021. He was a member of the Executive Committee at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where he had also served as the co-chair of the firm’s Global Litigation Practice. Mansfield joined the law firm in 1994 as the 11 th attorney in its then nascent New York City office, and the Commission two years later.

Law professor with Roswell roots wins national honor

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record A California law professor born in Roswell and raised in Albuquerque has been honored for outstanding scholarship by the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. Laura E. Gómez, a professor with the School of Law at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) received the 2021 Outstanding Scholar Award in December and will be honored during a Feb. 16 virtual awards banquet. Gómez was born in Roswell in 1964. Her parents, Antonio Gómez and Eloyda Gonzales Gómez, also were born here during the 1940s. She said she has many relatives who still live in the city, including an uncle, Ruben Gonzales, and “distant” cousins George Peterson and Savino Sanchez, both current Roswell city councilors.
