The hotel industry s largest trade organization recommended that its member hotels ease mask restrictions for vaccinated guests in the USA on the heels of guidance announced Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“In light of the recent CDC announcement that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in most settings, our Safe Stay guidelines will relax mask requirements for guests who are fully vaccinated, Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, said in a statement.
The AHLA represents 27,000 members, nearly half of all hotels in the USA, including major chains such as Marriott International, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt.

WASHINGTON – A recent national survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) shows more than seven in ten Americans (71%) support the federal government providing targeted economic relief to the hotel industry as called for in the Advertisements
Recently, AHLA and UNITE HERE, the largest hospitality workers union in North America, joined forces to call on Congress to pass the
Save Hotel Jobs Act. While many other hard-hit industries have received targeted federal relief, the hotel industry has not. In fact, hotels are the only major hospitality and leisure segment yet to receive direct aid. Without targeted relief from Congress, nationwide, hotels are expected to end 2021 down 500,000 jobs.
The Save Local Business Act would counter the joint employer provision of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, or PRO Act, which is a top policy focus of the Biden administration, Democrats in Congress and union leaders.
The PRO Act would codify the joint employer standard adopted by the National Labor Relations Board. The standard allows for two or more employers to be considered a joint employer of a worker if there is shared control of the worker’s essential terms and conditions of employment.

The Republican bill would amend the National Labor Relations Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act to make clear that an employer may be considered a joint employer in relation to an employee only if such employer directly and immediately exercises control over the essential terms and conditions of employment.
