Those and other results from a third survey of Cape Cod businesses and organizations showed the continuing economic, financial, operational and workforce impacts to the region s businesses from COVID-19.
The results from the survey conducted in January were released Monday by the Cape Cod Commission and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.
That third survey drew responses from 450 businesses and organizations, representing all 15 towns on the Cape.
More than 85% of businesses that participated reported losses in the second quarter of 2020. More than a third of those reported second-quarter losses of more than 75%.
By some metrics, the county is faring better than Maryland and the country as a whole. In December 2020, the county unemployment rate was at 4.9%, well below the state’s 6.3%, but still nearly double the rate recorded in December 2019, 2.5%.
