Mi Ultimo Adios.
According to Tolentino, the Oblation statue is inspired by man’s patriotism towards his country. “The completely nude figure of a young man with outstretched arms and open hands, with a tilted head, closed eyes and parted lips murmuring a prayer, with breast forward in the act of offering himself, is my interpretation of that sublime stanza. It symbolizes all the unknown heroes who fell during the night.”
Former UCO students allege sexual harassment by theater department head
Six women allege their theater professor at the University of Central Oklahoma sexually harassed them for years.
The women made the accusations in a federal lawsuit filed against UCO last week. The lawsuit seeks financial compensation for emotional distress, humiliation and other alleged damages.
All six are former students of the Edmond university. They allege Kato Buss, the head of UCO’s theater department, emotionally manipulated them, provided them with alcohol while underage, and created a sexually charged environment.
One former student reported a sexual relationship with Buss. Another complained to university officials that he touched her inappropriately.

Florida State University Department of Art Assistant Professor Anne Stagg and alumna Laura Tanner launched a new podcast that focuses on the long-term impacts of the pandemic on the visual arts.
The Open Call Podcast, released every other week on Thursdays, gives a glimpse into the creative practice and features engaging discussions with artists, curators and arts organizations about the importance of art and staying connected.
“So much of what we do as artists is already done behind the scenes, and the pandemic has increased that,” Stagg said. “For artists, sharing what we make is vital to our practice. This nurtured the idea to create a space of our own that would provide a new platform for a broad spectrum of voices within the arts community to come together and share ideas.”
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 17, 2021) Kentucky Performing Arts has announced that the statewide arts education program for high school students, the Governor’s School for the Arts, will return to in-person and traditional instruction at the University of Kentucky this summer. One of many events and educational programs impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic that started in early 2020, last summer’s Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts was shifted to a successful online and nontraditional instruction.
The three week, arts-immersive program for rising high school sophomores and juniors across the state has for 34 years traditionally gathered hundreds of students on a Kentucky college campus to learn, collaborate and study various art forms. Students, educators and administrators have often noted the peer-support learning element of the program, with attendees connecting with like-minded peers and often leaving with new lifelong friends afterward.
