OVH/ Trinity Nursing School alumni association to meet
STEUBENVILLE The Ohio Valley Hospital/Trinity School of Nursing Alumni Association will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Starkdale Presbyterian Church, 4600 Sunset Blvd.
It will be the usual covered-dish dinner meeting.
This marks the first meeting the association has had since the fall of 2019. The group normally meets twice a year in April and October but both 2020 occasions were canceled because of COVID-10 precautions.
There was acknowledgment in the spring newsletter from Melissa Hassan, dean of the school of nursing, that despite a challenging year because of the pandemic, the school’s 2020 NCLEX-RN pass rate was 100 percent. The school ranked third in the state of Ohio for 2019.

EGCC campuses close after threat
STEUBENVILLE Eastern Gateway Community College officials said they closed all of the school’s buildings on the Steubenville and Youngstown campuses on Tuesday and said they will be closed today.
“Between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Tuesday), Eastern Gateway received a phone call that included a general threat of violent action on an Eastern Gateway campus. The college’s security team immediately engaged law enforcement in Steubenville and Youngstown, and, out of an abundance of caution, evacuated and closed all facilities associated with the college,” Eastern Gateway President Michael Geoghegan said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
