WINDSOR, ONT. The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning along Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent. The LTVCA said Wednesday there is water on the road. “There is water on many properties and water has made it onto the roadway in several locations,” said a news release from LTVCA. “All non-essential traffic should avoid the area to ensure that emergency services can access the area if required. The authority says flooding should end Wednesday evening when winds switch to the west. Temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing overnight and any remaining water could produce slippery and hazardous conditions.

A gale warning was Sunday issued for western Lake Erie.
Winds were light to moderate across the region and generally from the southeast, said the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

Forecasts were predicting that winds would pick up Sunday afternoon and switch to the south. Winds were expected to switch to the southwest overnight Sunday. On the lake, sustained speeds could reach 35 kilometres per hour by early Sunday evening, officials said.
Winds were predicted to peak overnight, with sustained speeds between 40 and 60 km/h, and gusts between 65 and 90 km/h. High winds were expected to continue into Monday morning before switching to the west and dropping in the late morning.
