I KICKED COVID TO THE CURB!
CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
I kicked COVID to the curb! That’s the new campaign Westchester County has launched to encourage Westchester County teens and young adults to get vaccinated for COVID-19. The campaign includes a PSA with New York Knick and Ossining native Obi Toppin and Knick Immanuel “IQ” Quickley.
Along with the New York Knicks PSA, the County is also launching an aggressive social media campaign, hosting a youth town hall May 13 to answer questions young people might have about the vaccine and is partnering with local schools, libraries and more to directly get the information in the hands of the young people and their parents.

International Firefighters Day is a day to say thanks and celebrate all the work firefighters do.
It gives us time to reflect on how we take care of ourselves as well how we support our firefighters - how we support the families, said Duluth Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj.

From service calls to ice rescue, departments like the Duluth Fire Department have been a part of community outreach from the beginning and do much more than stopping fires.
Chief Krizaj notes that now the DFD is an all hazards response force that is geared primarily more towards medical assistance. That includes fighting fires, water rescue, ice rescue, medical calls and even just calls for assistance.
Latimer Salutes Westchester’s Fire Service in Advance of International Firefighters Day Written by Westchester County
County Executive George Latimer saluted Westchester’s firefighters today for the courageous and skillful service they continually provide across the County, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic this past year.
“Every day firefighters go out and risk their lives to protect property and life. Any of us who have ever been proximate to a fire realize the bravery that it takes to run to the fire when the rest of us as civilians run from the fire as fast as we can,” Latimer said. “We really respect them and on this day we want to honor them.”

International Firefighters Day
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared May 4, 2021 as International Firefighters Day to recognize the hard work and sacrifices that firefighters across Michigan make to keep their communities safe. Michigan is home to over 1,000 fire departments and over 30,000 firefighters. On International Firefighters Day, we honor the fearless men and women who not only run towards burning buildings and risk their own lives to save others but are often the first response when we need medical attention in our homes, said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Through a pandemic, firefighters have continued serving on the frontlines, stepping up amidst extraordinary circumstances to keep selflessly serving their communities.
