CTD announces arrest of terrorist, traces network financing Daesh Karachi January 28, 2021 Personnel of the Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday announced the arrest of a terrorist whose name has been included in the Red Book of notified terrorists. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Omar Shahid Hamid, the CTD Sindh chief, said a most-wanted terrorist of a banned organisation, Zaytoon Brigade, who was already named in the Red Book compiled by the government, was arrested by a joint team of CTD officials and an intelligence agency. The terrorist has been identified as Abbas Jafri and is said to be a close aide to another most-wanted terrorist Yawar Abbas. The raiding team also confiscated a weapon from his possession.

The suspect, identified as Abbas Jafferi, is a close relative of a notorious terrorist whose name is mentioned in the Red Book, the CTD said in a statement. A pistol with five rounds was recovered from him too. âDuring interrogation, the suspect said he had gone to a neighbouring country for training in 2014,â the statement read. He has taken several people to the âneighbouring countryâ for armed training, according to the CTD.

National December 22, 2020 KARACHI: Sindh’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday announced the arrest of a notorious terrorist associated with the banned organisation Sipah-e-Muhammad for his involvement in a number of target killings. CTD chief DIG Omar Shahid Hamid said investigations regarding target killings and terrorist attacks were under way, during which an informant tipped off the investigating team that terrorists associated with a banned outfit and involved in a number of target killings were present in Karachi’s District Central. Taking action on the information received, a raid was conducted near the Fateh Family Park in the Taimuria area. Seeing the police approach, the suspects opened fire on them, who launched a counterattack. After an encounter, the officials arrested a suspect named Ammad Ali (aliases Hammad and Titu) with a 30-bore pistol and shifted him to the CTD headquarters for further investigation.
