Wellingtonians can now hop aboard two very special
Metlink buses designed by Bill, 8, from Wellington city and
Ellie, 11, from Kāpiti, who won Metlink’s popular
‘Design a bus’ competition.
Bill and Ellie were
celebrated at a community event to unveil the two buses. The
tamariki were among the very first to see the freshly
wrapped EV double decker buses as they drove off the lot.
Ellie, Bill and their proud whānau then took the buses on
their maiden voyages to Island Bay where community members,
Greater Wellington councillors, Paul Eagle MP and Deputy
Mayor Sarah Free gathered to celebrate the kids’

Wellington bus passengers will face disruption to their travel on Wednesday 14 April between 9:00am and 3pm as some drivers attend a Tramways Union meeting.
Metlink General Manager Scott Gallacher says the union meeting will not affect school services but will impact some customers using off-peak services.

Metlink General Manager Scott Gallacher says the union meeting will not affect school services but will impact some customers using off-peak services.
“We will keep passengers updated through our website and social media channels, as well as through public information on radio.
“The key thing for passengers is to please check before you travel. Use Metlink’s app or website to check for cancelled services, or call our Metlink team on 0800 801 700.
“While some of our services might be impacted, Metlink fully supports union members attending this important meeting.”
Wellington bus passengers face disruptions with a six-hour union meeting next Wednesday. Metlink General Manager Scott Gallacher said the meeting, from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, April 14, would not affect school services but would impact off-peak services. “While some of our services might be impacted, Metlink fully supports union members attending this important meeting,” Gallacher said.
