PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) - The suspect in a 2014 night club murder has turned himself in, Palmetto Police Chief Scott Tyler said.
Ricardo Garcia surrendered to authorities Monday evening, Tyler told ABC7. “We’ve been actively looking for him, talking to his family and his attorney,” Tyler said. “We’re glad he’s in custody.”
Palmetto Police say 28-year-old Ricardo Garcia shot and killed Javare Thomas in March of 2014 on Haben Boulevard not far from the Bradenton Area Convention Center. Police say Garcia had been in a fight at The Hall nightclub in Palmetto earlier. He thought he had pulled up to the car that had the person he fought in it. It turns out, that person was in another vehicle.

PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) - Seven years later, the family of Javare Thomas might finally get some closure. Palmetto Police believe they know who is responsible for the death of the 26-year-old.
“Sometimes it’s just a matter of talking to the right people, people finally coming forward and people talking about what they know,” said Chief Scott Tyler with the Palmetto Police Department.

The School Board of Manatee County approved the date changes 4-1, with board member Mary Foreman dissenting, during its regular meeting March 9.
District leaders were working with the Bradenton Area Convention Center in February to plan graduation for this year when they were notified the center would not be able to exceed 500 to 600 participants for graduation.
