To the editor: We are writing to endorse Rick Cowan, Bonnie North, and Elijah Zimmer, who are running for the Rockingham Select Board on March 2. Last July, we said we would be reminding voters regarding the four Select Board members who voted in favor of having Main Street Arts remove the set and technical equipment brought into the Bellows Falls Opera House for its postponed production of âCabaret.â We were both involved in the production, and we remember very well how short sighted and unfair this decision was.
The production was postponed two days before its planned opening on March 13 last year because of the pandemic restrictions. There have been no live events that would have otherwise used the stage since, and the movie program was not impacted by its remaining in place. BELLOWS FALLS â Rockingham residents will have plenty of choice for the three open seats on the Rockingham Select Board at Town Meeting in March.
With Select Board members Gaetano Putignano and Ben Masure not seeking re-election, more than a half dozen people have filed for a seat, with most of the candidates filing for both the open three-year seat and one of the two, one-year seats.

Jonathan Wright was a former Bellows Falls village trustee until June. Cass Wright briefly served on the Rockingham Select Board a few years ago,

BELLOWS FALLS â The Rockingham Select Board has decided to hold both a Zoom and in-person Town Meeting in March.
The board also approved the warning for the 2021 Town Meeting Tuesday night, adopting a proposed town budget of $6 million, which town officials said was level-funded over last yearâs budget. Of the $6,021,089 town budget, $5,122,944 has to be raised locally.
As a result, town taxes are projected to see a small decline from the current tax year, according to the townâs finance director, Shannon Burbela. She said there had been a slight increase in the townâs grand list of taxable properties. The proposed tax rate is $1.0903, down 0.0087 of a cent.
