California has received 3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday, according to Gov. Newsom.
To date, the governor says 1.188 million doses have been administered.
Yet, Bay Area counties and hospitals say they don t have enough. Many are demanding answers from the state. It is a little perplexing why certain counties and in some ways California as a whole is being left behind here, said San Francisco District 6 Supervisor Matt Haney.
Friday Governor Newsom took on those tough questions at Dodger Stadium, where he and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti launched a vaccination site. We simply aren t receiving enough vaccines at the national level, Mayor Garcetti said.
It is one of many locations across the state ramping up to accelerate vaccine administration amid a dangerous surge of coronavirus cases in the state.
Mayor Eric Garcetti says it will have the capacity to vaccinate 12,000 people a day. The site will be one of the biggest in the country, if not the biggest in the country, Garcetti said.
California reported 42,655 new COVID-19 cases on Friday and 637 new deaths the second highest recorded single-day total since the pandemic began.

As California launches massive COVID-19 vaccination sites to speed up inoculations, concern is growing among public health officials that the supply of doses could soon dry up.
State and local officials Friday complained that the scramble touched off by the federal government’s recommendation to add people 65 and older to vaccine eligibility lists has not been accompanied by an increase in shipments.
That could add to an already confusing and chaotic vaccine rollout, and limit the number of people who can be vaccinated in California, just as the state seems to be gaining ground.
California has administered nearly 1.2 million vaccines, or about 40% of the 3 million doses received, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday. That’s a significant increase since Monday, when the state had administered about 783,000 doses, less than one-third of the 2.5 million doses on hand.
