Excessive speed suspected in Lincoln County double fatal crash, troopers say WSOCTV.com News Staff North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a double fatal crash in Lincoln County Sunday evening. It happened just after 6 p.m. on Mount Zion Church Road, which is near Old Plank Road in Lincolnton. Trooper said a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro was driving south on Mount Zion Church Road when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a 2011 Nissan Altima. After that collision, a 2016 Nissan Rogue crashed into the Altima. The driver of the Camaro, 21-year-old Cooper Snipes, was flown to a hospital in Charlotte by medical helicopter. He later died from his injuries.

Taylorsville Man Indicted In Connection To October Shooting Incident Dakota Lee Norton Taylorsville Man Indicted In Connection To October Shooting Incident February 4, 2021 21-year-old Dakota Lee Norton of Taylorsville has been indicted by an Alexander County Grand Jury in connection to an incident last October. According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, he’s charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. In addition he’s charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of common law conspire to commit assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony conspire to sell and deliver schedule VI controlled substance, and common law conspire to discharge a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
