Mr Blinken’s visit on Wednesday and Thursday is intended “to reaffirm unwavering US support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
Mr Blinken will meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and other officials during the trip.
He “will also encourage continued progress on Ukraine’s institutional reform agenda, particularly anti-corruption action,” the statement read.
Kiev has been battling pro-Russian separatists in the eastern Donetsk and Lugansk regions since 2014, after Moscow annexed the Crimean Peninsula.
Tension between Moscow and the West flared again on Tuesday when Russia’s Black Sea fleet launched live-fire naval combat exercises. The US sent a coastguard vessel to the region.

For the first time Britain’s top ambassadorships in all of the world’s key diplomatic postings will be held by women after the Paris post was given to Menna Rawlings.
Before 1973, British women diplomats had to resign if they got married and were not sent to posts considered too harsh. In the past half-century, however, they made significant strides in what was previously a male-dominated profession.

Foreign Secretary statement on Palestinian elections English
From:
It is disappointing that elections in the Occupied Palestinian Territories have been postponed.
The Palestinian people should be allowed to enjoy their democratic rights – and Israel must allow voting for Palestinians in East Jerusalem, in line with the Oslo Accords. Elections are long overdue and I urge the swift setting of a new date.

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Antony Blinken is headed to Europe next week for critical talks on Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Afghanistan and frayed transatlantic ties that the Biden administration hopes to repair, the State Department said Friday.
The department said Blinken will visit London starting on Monday for a meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of 7 industrialized democracies and will then travel on to Kyiv amid a burst of concern over U.S. relations with Ukraine, including an FBI raid on former President Donald Trump s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and new questions about Russiaâs intentions there.
