AMSTERDAM
.- On Saturday July 10th, a mere 3 days after her extraordinary 108th birthday, Mrs. Ella Schaap passed away. Mrs. Schaap was connected to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for no less than 56 years, as a volunteer and from the age of 92 as a Curatorial Associate in the field of European Ceramics. She published several titles amongst which Three Delft Pieces in the Philadelphia Museum of Art (1967), Dutch tiles [
] (1984), Dutch floral tiles in the golden age and their Botanical prints (1994) and Delft ceramics [
] (2003). Mrs. Schaap was a turn-to authority when researching Delftware and specifically Dutch tiles. She was awarded a royal decoration by HM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands in 2003 for her dedication to spreading awareness of Dutch ceramics in United States. Ella was not only a friend, she was a scholar, an authority, a great specialist in the field of Dutch ceramics, a stable factor and a staple of our little but global community. She will be sorely missed.

MONTREAL
.-The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts announced the appointment of Eunice Bélidor as the Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Curator of Quebec and Canadian Contemporary Art (1945 to Today). Bélidors multidisciplinary background in art and research will greatly benefit the Museum, its programming and its collection of Quebec and Canadian contemporary art.
Eunice Bélidor has distinguished herself as a curator and a thought leader in her field, and I could not be happier to welcome her to the curatorial team of the MMFA. Her experience coupled with her interest in stimulating dialogue and in focusing on themes and discourses that are too often marginalized make her a tremendous asset for the MMFA. Her work will enrich our understanding of Quebec and Canadian art, and we are eager to discover the programming she will develop, noted Mary-Dailey Desmarais, Chief Curator, MMFA.

Toronto, ON / Saskatoon, SK (March 12, 2021) – The Canadian Premier League (CPL) is pleased to announce they have awarded the exclusive rights to a CPL expansion club to Living Sky Sports and Entertainment Inc. (LSSE), a Saskatchewan based company. The launch of an expansion club is contingent upon LSSE delivering a soccer-specific stadium to League standards, and to that end, LSSE has identified Prairieland Park in Saskatoon as a preferred site for a stadium.
“On behalf of the Board of Governors, we are pleased to make this announcement today as we know we have a very supportive and engaged community of soccer fans in Saskatchewan and have since we launched the League,” said David Clanachan, Commissioner, Canadian Premier League. “We are extremely hopeful that LSSE will be able to meet the League soccer-specific stadium requirements so that we can begin celebrating Canadian soccer in Saskatoon.”
