Slovan Bratislava celebrating their win over Dundalk in Tallaght Stadium in 2019 SLOVAN BRATISLAVA Slovan have a rich European football history having won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1969 beating Barcelona in Basil. They have made the groups stages of the Europa League three times in the last decade. In the 2019 they defeated Dundalk (1-0 at home and 3-1 in Tallaght) in the Europa League third qualifying round and Greek side PAOK in the play-off round to make the group stages where they earned four points (from a win over Besiktas at home and a 2-2 draw away to Braga). Last year, they had to forfeit their fixture against Faroe Island side KI due to a positive COVID-19 test in their squad and then lost to 4-3 on penalties to Finnish side KuPS after their one-legged tie ended 1-1 after 120 minutes so they will be hoping to fair better this season.

Extratime.com - Extratime.ie - WNL Round-Up: Treaty United and Athlone Town claim first victories of the season while Shelbourne and Peamount United also win

Treaty United celebrated their first win of the 2021 WNL campaign yesterday. Treaty United moved off the bottom of the WNL table on Saturday after winning their first game of the 2021 campaign when they ran out 3-2 winners over Cork City. The Limerick side opened the scoring at Turners Cross when Rebecca Horgan was set up by her sister Aoife in the 15 th minute. Cork City’s Sarah McKevitt placed the ball into the top corner of Michaela Mitchell’s goal on the half hour mark to draw the sides level but Treaty went into the halftime break a goal up when Rebecca Horgan scored her second of the game five minutes later.

Extratime.com - Extratime.ie - Live Updates - 2021 League of Ireland First Division - Treaty United -v- Bray Wanderers

TREATY UNITED Tommy Barrett’s side will be looking to make a rapid piece of bouncebackability when they welcome the Seagulls to Garryowen tomorrow night. A win for the Shannonsiders would seem them leapfrog their opponents in the table and enable them to maintain pace with the chasing pack behind leaders Shelbourne. Treaty United found themselves on the wrong side of a three goal game when they went down 2-1 at the hands of Cabinteely at Stradbrook last Friday evening. The match was evenly poised and looked to be going in at 0-0 at the halftime interval only for the game to suddenly explode into life.

Q&A with police and crime commissioner candidate Alan Robinson

1. What is your name? Alan Robinson, people call me Al Robinson. 2. Where do you live? I live in Banbury currently, but I grew up in Witney so I’m a Witney boy. 3. Why do you want to be the police and crime commissioner? Because I’ve been upset with the way policing is going. I started the job, as a police officer, in 1993. I was posted to Abingdon as a constable before transferring to Witney and then I was promoted to Oxford in 2006 until I retired after 25 years, in December of 2018. It was a lot of fun. I put my heart and soul into policing but I have a lot of frustrations with how it went from serving the public to serving politicians, which has ultimately led to not only a broken police service but broken officers and staff. I could be enjoying my retirement but I simply couldn’t sit back and let the policing service continue to disengage with our communities and demoralise its officers and staff.
