Man Utd ease into Europa League last 16
Shola Shoretire became the youngest player to appear for Manchester United in a European game as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side eased into the last-16 of the Europa League with a goalless draw against Real Sociedad.
At 17 years and 23 days, Newcastle-born Shoretire beat the record of Norman Whiteside by 108 days on a night when January signing Amad Diallo also made his first appearance at Old Trafford.
They were notable milestones on an evening when Bruno Fernandes went closest for the hosts in the opening period as he smashed a lay-off from Fred onto the crossbar.

Real Sociedad 0-4 Man Utd: Fernandes bags brace
Date published: Thursday 18th February 2021 4:40 - News Desk
Bruno Fernandes’ brace inspired dominant Man Utd to an impressive Europa League triumph against Real Sociedad as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took a giant stride towards the last 16.
Having dropped out of the Champions League, the Red Devils secured a comprehensive round of 32 first-leg victory at Juventus’ Allianz Stadium after winning just two of their last six matches in all competitions.
Fernandes netted either side of half-time to put Man Utd in control against Sociedad, with Marcus Rashford and Daniel James completing a 4-0 victory that all but wraps things up ahead of next week’s return leg at Old Trafford.
