AfterShock Comics Announces The Brother Of All Men Series

A tightly plotted horror-mystery based on a true story wherein writer Zac Thompson (I BREATHED A BODY, UNDONE BY BLOOD, Ka-Zar) joins forces with artist Eoin Marron (KILLER GROOVE) for a new miniseries that blends the unexpected twists of hard-boiled detective noir with the uncanny traditions of folk-horror.

De Courcy Island farm of notorious cult leader up for sale

Edward Arthur Wilson, also known as Julian Churton Skottowe and Amiel de Valdes, claimed he was the reincarnation of Egyptian god Osiris. He told followers a few hundred at a colony in Cedar and the farm on De Courcy and up to 8,000 worldwide, many of them wealthy socialites in England and the U.S. that he was part of a select group of brothers that included Confucius, Buddha and Jesus Christ. The Aquarian Foundation fortified its properties with rifles and explosives and sustained themselves through farming while awaiting the end of days. The Canadian Press reported in 1956 that a human skull was discovered in a sack in the attic of the commune’s “House of Mystery,” where Brother Twelve was said to have communicated with his fellow brothers.

Historic home of notorious B C cult listed for $2 8M

VICTORIA The former homestead of one of Canada’s most notorious cults is up for sale. The historic island property is largely unchanged since the 1920s, when it served as the reputed Ark of Refuge for spiritual leader Brother XII and his Aquarian Foundation. The farm encompasses just over 99 acres of De Courcy Island, its fruit orchards, forests and meadows making up the bulk of the small B.C. Gulf Island located southeast of Nanaimo. It was here that Brother XII, born Edward Arthur Wilson in Birmingham, England, established a fortified colony where he and dozens of followers hoped to survive the coming apocalypse.
