Manila archbishop to lead Mass for peace, Russia's conversion

"The ashes are imposed by making the sign of the cross to remind us that even if we are sinners, there is hope because we have been redeemed by Christ through his life-giving death on the cross," Advincula said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas on Ash Wednesday. Manila archdiocese churches toll bells for 36th Edsa anniversary

(File photo) MANILA - Churches under the Archdiocese of Manila will be tolling their bells later on Friday in observance of the 36th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution. "In response to the proposal of our brother priests, the Cardinal (Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula) approved of the tolling of our church bells tomorrow, February 25 at 12:00 noon and 8:00 in the evening, in commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution and gratitude to the Lord for the gift of achieving change through prayer, love of country and peaceful means," the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Communications said in a Facebook post Thursday night. Cardinal Advincula to lead Mass for 36th Edsa anniversary

(File photo) MANILA - Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula will celebrate the Mass to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution on Friday. In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Communications announced that the cardinal will lead the eucharistic celebration at the Edsa Shrine along Edsa corner Ortigas Avenue at 12:15 p.m. At the same time, the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Sampaloc, Manila will also hold a Mass to mark the occasion. "As we commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution on the 25th of February, we will officiate the Mass for maintaining peace and justice," said the parish in a Facebook post.
