you re watching fox 13 and the 11 o clock news starts now. how could it happen? how could a night of safety training at the punta gorda police department end up with the shooting of a volunteer? 73-year-old mary knollton was accidentally shot and killed tuesday night during a shoot/don t shoot exercise. there she is right there in the light blue. and it was an officer who pulled the trigger. fox 13 s haley hinds is in pun day at that governor da punta gorda where investigators are trying to figure out what went on. haley: she was very well known and very involved in the community. she supported the police, her son said, that s why she wanted to be a part of chamber police night. she and her husband were at the punta gorda police department tuesday. she was picked to be part of a shoot/don t shoot role play scenario. she is excited to do it. but during the exercise the she was taken to the hospital but died. officer cole had been with the department 2-1/2 years. the

in the hospital it happened on seymour avenue just after midnight. brian thompson is there with what we know so far. brian? reporter: mike, we re only about three blocks from police headquarters in newark. but they have been patrolling this area since the shooting trying to reassure residents they re on top of this. the shooter is still on the loose at this point. there have been six fatal shootings in the cityn little over 72 hours. now, in in particular case it was just after midnight that a gunman opened fire on two people here. according to a neighbor, the two were on the porch of this house waiting for a taxi cab. the man walked into the house and then collapsed dead. the woman apparently shot in the foot. this neighbor says she was pregnant and police have heard the same thing. the hospital just a few minutes later. there is no motive at this point for police. president gunman apparently a little bit more than across the street according to this neighbor. they re stil

who accidentally killed a fellow officer during a chaotic gunfight. it happened last night. his identity was revealed today? he s officer taylor kraus. he was applauded back in 2013. scott broom is joining us live where cross was identified as the shooter during a court hearing for the three men who charged or three men charged, rather, with starting the gunfight that started it all. now we know the name of the man on the other side. the other 50% of this double tragedy is that police chief hank stuwince key called it. he has the fullbacking of the entire prince george s police department. according to police, taylor kraus thought he was aiming his assault rifleat a bad guy. as an attack was unfolding on a district 3 precinct march 13th. instead, he turned out to be undercover detective. colson was killed. kraus is a 34-year-old marine with nearly six years as a former police officer and former officer of the month. we know at this point, officer kraus was the only of
the courthouse 45 minutes after posting $10,000 bond charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. major league baseball is taking into account their own investigation. they are conducting their own investigation into what happened in arlington county last night. police here in arlington arrested olivera around 7 a.m. at the ritz-carlton hotel in pentagon city after a woman he was with in that hotel room called 911 accusing him of assault. she was taken to the hospital. police say olivera and the woman know each other but they are not in a relationship. that matters when it comes to how he is charged. a domestic violence organization here in arlington says unfortunately, she is not surprised. it s very disappointing. but it s not surprising given that domestic violence is still everywhere at every economic level and community. what did surprise many people was that major league baseball place olivera on administrative leave before he was charged let alone before he was co

concerned. there was an ongoing domestic dispute between the couple. apparently that dispute got pretty heated on saturday. when family members couldn t get ahold of them, they got concerned. they came to the house and that s when they made the grim discovery. the family of five dead inside their home here in culpeper, virginia. now, they have been identified as shawna and clarence washington, both 35 years old, a married couple, and their three children. their three girls, aged 13, 6 and 4. the sheriff s department says that this is now being investigated as a domestic murder-suicide. a little while ago i spoke to the cousin of shawna washington and she said that she never imagined that something like this would happen. my prayers, that was my sister, that was my heart, my best friend, my world. reporter: investigators did find a gun inside the house. they won t elaborate on what kind of a gun it was. as for the ongoing marital problems, the domestic dispute, the sheriff
