Suzuki Marks Indian Export Milestone
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the official name of Suzuki’s Indian operations has hit a new milestone: the export of two million vehicles. The milestone was marked by the export of three models—the S-Presso, Swift, and Vitara Brezza which left the Mundra Port in Gujarat Province for South Africa (check out our Indian experience with Suzuki here).
Maruti Suzuki commenced export of its vehicles back in 1986, and the first large consignment of 500 cars was shipped to Hungary in September 1987. With steady growth it had achieved its one millionth export unit by 2012, with 50 percent of these being sold to Europe.

The Volkswagen Santana Is Priced at Just P 599k Until February
As Volkswagen Philippines gears up for the release of the updated Santana sometime this year, they’re giving up to P 184,000 off the current iteration of their sub-compact sedan. This gives would-be buyers the best deals yet.
All sedan variants of the German-engineered Santana come with substantial cash discounts until the end of February.
The entry-level Santana 1.4 MPI MT is now priced at just P 599,000 thanks to a P 87,000 discount. This pretty much pits the Santana against smaller sub-B segment offerings for the first time ever.
Meanwhile, for those who want the convenience of an automatic, the 1.5 MPI AT S is the variant that gets the biggest discount, dropping its price from P 929,000 to just 745,000. Finally, the top-of-the-line 1.5 MPI AT SE sees its price go down from P 993,000 to just P 898,000.
Toyota PH Upbeat for 2021; Lauds Possible Extension of CARS Program
Despite the lowering of 2020 sales projections across the automotive sector due to prolonged lockdowns and limitations in physical movements, TMP has reported several bright spots indicating industry resilience and showing promise of recovery.
“Even though the past year has been challenging, the market has shown incredible resilience and was able to achieve 242,000 in sales,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto. “That being said, I am pleased to announce that TMP was able to achieve 100,019-unit sales in 2020, with an expanded share of the market at 41.3 percent,” he added.
TMP Chairman Alfred Ty shared this optimism, citing efforts from the government and industry partners all contributing to improvements in market conditions and overall environment for both businesses and the consumers.
