Vietnam analyses gene variants of SARS-CoV-2
The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) has taken samples of new COVID-19 patients in the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, and Ha Tinh to analyse genetic variants.
Specifically, three samples in Vinh Phuc collected from employees of Bar Sunny were of the B.1.617.2 variant of SARS-CoV-2 identified in India.
Six samples were taken in Ha Nam, two in Hung Yen, and two others in Ha Tinh. They were all found to be the B.1.1.7 variant of SARS-CoV-2 identified in the UK.
