SOUTH BEND, Ind. South Bend Venues Parks and Arts announced they will host a ribbon-cutting at Governor Joe Kernan Park at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday to celebrate all the new upgrades and accessibly measures that have been installed.
These new additions to the park have created a universally accessible trail along the upper Riverwalk, two new river outlooks, new signage, upgraded benches, and upgraded trash and recycling receptacles.
“The improvements at this particular park are significant for several reasons. First, the park honors one of the most impactful community members in our city’s history, Governor Joe Kernan, who loved this city and the St. Joseph River. Additionally, this park serves as an important connection along the riverfront trail system in South Bend, and these upgrades make the trail more accessible and navigable than it has ever been,” said Aaro

SOUTH BEND, Ind. South Bend Venues Parks & Arts, The Historic Preservation Commission, and the City of South Bend’s Department of Community Investment have announced a ribbon cutting ceremony for the South Bend City Cemetery’s recent improvements taking place on Wednesday at 10 am.
Improvements were recently made to the brick entrance, as well as an adding street parking, brand-new planters, and seating areas.
Pathways were also resurfaced, and more than 180 damaged and aging headstones were restored.
A new guided tour narrated Historic Preservation Commission Specialist, Adam Toering, was also added to the cemetery.
