The good doctor was always in, and involved

The good doctor was always in, and involved  Dr. Horace Blood examines a patient in the 1980s. Blood made huge contributions in the doctor’s office and in the community. Monitor file Dr. Horace Blood’s Crystal Springs Farm in East Concord. —Monitor file Published: 5/31/2021 8:00:16 PM The last time Steve Duprey saw Dr. Horace Blood was during Market Days two years ago at the grand opening of the Bank of NH Stage. Duprey and Blood had been instrumental in renovating a crumbling eyesore into yet another prized place for entertainment, joining the Capitol Center for the Arts. “His son and daughter brought him to that,” said Duprey, whose investments over the years have helped revitalize downtown. “He had that same laugh and the same twinkle in his eye. I was surprised he didn’t ask me for money. You absolutely needed to have him on your board.”

Review: Musicians give their annual gift

Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus isn’t about to let a pandemic dampen its Christmas spirit or prevent it from giving the community its annual gift of music. Under the theme “Music is Vital,” the groups came through with another online concert that debuted last weekend. And, unlike a traditional live concert, the virtual concert is online at YouTube to enjoy again and again this holiday season. Enjoy is the key here. The half-hour concert is truly enjoyable. A tremendous amount of work went into the production – and it shows. Each musician had to learn his or her part, record it and then someone with mad tech skills had to compile everything into one audio and video masterpiece.
