Britain’s biggest pension fund risks the wipeout of its biggest single investment if Thames Water were to collapse. Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), which serves 500,000 members and has £82bn of investments, increased its stake in Thames Water just 18 months ago, hailing the company’s performance under then boss Sarah Bentley. USS acquired an additional 8.77pc of Thames Water from Wren House, the infrastructure investment arm of the Kuwait Investment Authority, in December 2021.
