Leigh Pankonin, best known as Phatima Rude, aka Sister Phatima la Dyke Van Dick/Sister Hateful Sow of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Inc., died May 18 while sleeping in their Portland, Oregon apartment. They were 55.
Phatima also performed as reTarded Panda and Taffi 3.14, according to the Sister Kitty Catalyst, the former mistress of archives who wrote an obituary.
Born in 1966, they grew up in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, a small city in the mid-western part of the state. Their mom, Cleo Rude, worked at a state mental hospital, so they grew up at the institution and studied the people there later using them as the basis for drag characters. Phatima treasured Cleo Rude, saying she had a wicked sense of humor and swore like a sailor. By the late 1980s the two moved to San Francisco and Phatima was introduced to the art of drag in 1989, by drag mother MichaelAngelo. Phatima said, "Once you do drag it's in your blood ... It became my medium, and my dialect, for what I wanted to convey, or make others think about, or entice, or repulse."

Within the HighwayMAX family of Faymonville trailers is the new Dolly&Booster, an extendable super-heavy-haul unit composed of nine hydraulically-steered pendle-axles, a three-axle jeep dolly and a three-axle nitro booster. This “King of the Highway,” the company said, can save time and money with quick and easy assembly and disassembly, and is new to the North American market from the Belgian manufacturer.
Including the truck, the HighwayMax Dolly&Booster creates a 19-axle combination and achieves a payload capacity of about 240,000 lbs. at 20,000 lbs. per axle.
Besides fast mobilization, customers can benefit from flexible use, Faymonville said, as the jeep dolly and booster are detachable, and can be loaded on the trailer for empty runs minus expensive and time-consuming permits. The truck and trailer combination length is less than 110 feet and the loading platform can be extended up to 82 feet. The spacing between axle tridems is adaptable to 14, 16, 18 and 20 feet.

Members of Valley Lodge No. 175 in Burnet hope the public can help them locate some missing Masons.
Actually, they’re looking for photos of 14 past Masters to complete a wall of pictures.
“We’ve been working on this project for about a year now, and we have photos for almost all our past Masters, but we’re missing some,” said lodge member Jim Barho. “We’ve just about done everything we can to find photos, so now we’re asking the public if they can help us.”
