How Female Executives Are Leading the International Streaming Business

Streaming heavyweights have big global aspirations, and they’re relying on a growing cadre of women to realize them.
Female leaders abound at Netflix and Amazon Studios, where international programming initiatives are well underway, and they occupy top roles at Disney, Viacom and HBO Max as the businesses expand globally. In a sign of how important these initiatives are to Netflix, the streamer elevated Bela Bajaria, formerly head of local-language programming, to head of global TV in September as part of a broader corporate realignment. Earlier, in June, it lured Eleonora “Tinny” Andreatta, who shepherded HBO’s cross-national hit “My Brilliant Friend” as head of RAI drama, to oversee Italian originals. At Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, a proponent of global franchises, is relying on an all-female regional leadership team to grow the company’s international fortunes. Over at Disney, Rebecca Campbell gained oversight of global streaming when Kevin Mayer exited in May, while Kelly Day was named president of international streaming for ViacomCBS in October; HBO Max recently put Christina Sulebakk in charge of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Variety has learned.
The show, titled “Roar,” will star Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merrit Wever, and Alison Brie. The anthology is described as a series of darkly comic feminist fables. It is based on Cecilia Ahern’s book of short stories of the same name. Apple has ordered eight half-hour episodes.

Endeavor Content will produce for Apple. The show is the first to come out of Flahive and Mensch’s new overall deal with the streamer. The duo created the series and will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Kidman and Per Saari will executive produce via Blossom Films. Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Allie Goss will executive produce on behalf of Made Up Stories. Papandrea and Kidman previously collaborated on the hit HBO shows “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing.” Ahern will also be an executive producer via Greenlight Go, as will Theresa Park via Per Capita Productions.

Pascual Sisto completed his cut of “John and the Hole” for the Cannes deadline in the spring, and after submitting it, he took some time off. “And, of course, that time off became a pandemic,” Sisto says.
Though Cannes was canceled, the festival announced its lineup anyway, and “John and the Hole” made the cut. “It’s unbelievable how much support they have just by picking some films without even having a festival,” he says.

“John and the Hole” eventually premiered at Sundance. It’s a collaboration between Sisto and Nicolás Giacobone, the Oscar-winning “Birdman” screenwriter whom Sisto met in the late ’90s.

It's the 'Un-Break My Heart' singer's sister Tamar Braxton who sparks the rumor that she may have tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend over the Valentine's Day weekend. Feb 15, 2021
It's the 53-year-old singer's sister
Tamar Braxton herself who sparked the marriage speculation with her social media post. On Sunday, February 14, the youngest of the Braxton sisters took to her Instagram Story to congratulate the "love birds" on something special.
"@tonibraxton @birdman congratulations love birds," so the 43-year-old singer/reality TV star wrote along with a paparazzi picture of Toni and Birdman and several emojis. She, however, failed to mention what occasion which deserved the congratulatory post, leaving fans speculating about the status of the pair's relationship.

Quick, name a Daredevil villain. Was it Kingpin? Of course it was. Daredevil’s rivalry with Wilson Fisk is the stuff of career-making storylines and Netflix TV shows. And yet, if you really want to get picky, Kingpin debuted as a rival for Spider-Man, not Daredevil. Doesn’t Daredevil have any of his own bad guys? Well, yes…
technically.
Here at Book Riot, we’ve done severallists about the bestsupervillains. This is not one of them. Daredevil literally had no “best” villains in the 1960s. I have read every regular issue (i.e. no annuals) of
Daredevil with a ’60s cover date—that’s Issues 1–59—so I speak from personal experience when I say that early Daredevil villains are all varying flavors of hilariously terrible, forgettably terrible, and terrible terrible. It’s amazing that Daredevil lasted so long without getting even a sniff at a decent arch-nemesis.
